Need a thin hdmi cord for htpc?

Hey guys, I finally got my HTPC running off the 5570 Now I have a problem....the portion of the hdmi cable that goes into the hdmi input of the card, not the cable itself but the bulkier ends, do not allow me to completely insert the cable. It's basically hitting a piece of metal that allows it to go in half way. Are there any cables that are thinner/not as wide? Would my best bet be to just cut/shave off that end? Thanks in advance guys.

part of the bulkiness is stuff to prevent interference (ferrite cores, shielding etc)

any pics of the actual card? maybe something wrong with the card
