Great deal. for those who dont have staples near you, Costco has a similiar tripp-lite model with LCD display for $99 bucks too.

For those who don't want to spend that much money, or who don't need quite as much horsepower, BestBuy still has the Cyberpower 800VA UPS (in a Dynex box) for $30.

Nice deal too. You could just buy 2 800's I had 2 UPS's for the longest time. I wanted to combine all my wires and just have one UPS

The Best Buy ones have been OOS on those for a while now.

I got in on the Staples deal. That was actually a really good price. I'm in charge of our backup power systems at work, and 1285VA should get you a good 1-1 1/2 hours on your computer. However, what I'm using it for is emergency power. I'll power an LED light, a cell phone charger, and a radio for several hours. Great for storm prone areas!

I'm debating getting one of these for my main system, and another for my cable modem, vonage box, router, and switch. I doubt it will last long on my main system...I imagine my 22" NEC CRT will suck it down fast...

I suppose I could put it on this system with the 2005FPW...hmm.

They in-stock, there's $20 off $200 code that works, and you can also get 4% back on Fatcash, making this one sweet deal. These are powerful enough to protect your Plasma hi-def TV.

This looks like a nice price; I'm going to pick up one later today. My main system is somewhat power hungry with the CRT and all, but I only need it to work for a few minutes so I can save anything I'm doing.

Is there any cheaper one that would do the job for my other computer? After losing a lot of progress on some math publication due to a power outage a few days ago, I would like to get both of my systems on UPSs as quickly as possible.

Thanks...just bought two and a box of pens, used a $20 off $200 coupon and got them for $180 shipped. I think I'll use one for my network stuff, and the other for my main PC.

Ya don't say? My bro has a 42" plasma and living in the PNW you never know when the power will go out cuz of a tree limb on a line or something. Think it would be enough to power his plasma? I might suggest he go get one if so.

Actually, not all Best Buy stores are out of them. I was in a Best Buy last night that had at least 20 of the 800VA units for $29.99 on the racks...

My 50" Plasma is 480 watts. Look up his model and see how much power it draws. VA -> wattts is roughly 60% of the VA rating, so 1285 x .6 = 771 watts. Shouldn't have any problems in a brown-out.

Yeah but you'd want a generator for watching a movie during those blackouts

You're probably looking at a few minutes
