Hi i woud like to buy a 4870 but i dont know if my PSU if powerfull enough to run it.
MB :K10N78hSLI-GLAN
Proc: Amd Athlon 64 x2 +5600 at 3ghz
Ram: A-DATA 2GB DDR2 800MHz CL5 Gaming Series
PSU: Saga 450 PSU
Hard: Samsung hd321kj 300gb
Dvd burner+ card reader
My monitor is a 19inch at 1280x1024 resolution.
If i can't run the 4870 can you guys suggest me a GPU (better than the 8800gt) , because i can't afford a new PSU right now.

To be honest theres no point upgrading from an 8800GT to a 4870 at such a low resolution, and with a slow CPU. I'd get a 1680x1050 monitor or higher and a more recent cPU before upgrading that GPU. If you upgraded now you'd only see a very small gain in FPS, not enough to be noticable visually. Meaning you might get a couple FPS better in benchmarks, but not enouogh to make it visually smoother

I agree - at 1280x1024, an 8800 GT should still do the trick. Save your cash for now; upgrade your monitor (~$200 for 1920x1080 22-24") and PSU ($60-100 for a quality brand like Corsair, Seasonic, PC Power & Cooling, etc.), THEN upgrade your GPU when the next generation comes out (if you can afford it).

Is your 8800 with 256MB or with 512MB?

If it is with 256MB then some 2008 and many 2009 (like modern warfare 2) will suffer a hit at 1280x1024.

But the 512MB version should be O.K.

The problem is your CPU & memory.

You see, the minimum specifications in order to run the TOP Q4 2009 games will be a Athlon X2 3800+ (2Ghz) and 2GB of memory.

So your memory size barely makes it and your CPU is just 1,5X faster than the minimum possible

And You now how the marketing departments mean the word minimum:

Not fan at all and painful to the bone.

The minimum spec to have (for Q4 2009 games) in order not to want to commit suicide while playing (1280X1024) will be something like 2x the above specs:

CPU : AMD PHENOM II X2 550 (3.1GHz) or Intel Core 2 Duo E7600 (3.06GHz)
RAM : 4GB
GPU : ATI 4830 512MB or NVIDIA 9800GT 512MB (nearly the same as 8800GT)

My 8800gt was 1024mb version but i sold it. That's why i want to buy a GPU now and maybe 3months later CPU,PSU and memory. And MB is it's necesseraly.
So what GPU should i buy? my budget is around 150$ more or less.
My choise would be between 4850 or Gts 250.

If you're choosing between 4850 or GTS 250...the 4850 is a clear winner there.
On the other hand, if your budget is $150, then you could get a 4870, which would leave you some headroom to get a higher resolution monitor afterwards.

That's a more than adequate PSU for a 4870.

Fortron Source is a quality producer and when they say 324w on the 2 12v rails, I bet it does it. You could probably get away with a quad core phenom II and a 4870, but work on a new monitor first.

edit: Since you don't have a card.

$110 = 130 - 10cc (awesome10) - $10 rebate Powercolor 4870 512mb (does not come with 6 pin adapter)

$115 = $135 - 10cc (awesome10) - $10 rebate Sapphire 4870 512mb (comes with 6 pin adapters)

The 4850 propably won´t be much faster than your old 8800 GT... That isn´t a real upgrade.
