Need Advice CA Community Colleges

Gonna finally start school. I have no idea where to go. All i know is Santa Monica College is the worst. Anyone know of any good junior colleges anywhere in CA.

SMC is the #1 JC in southern california, in terms of successful transfers to 4-year colleges.

WTF? Who told you that SMC is the worst? I've taken courses there and have friends at Harbor, El Camino, SMCC, and a few others, and SMC has some of the BEST community college courses available in SoCal. Whoever told you that SMC isn't good probably works cleaning latrines at Burger King.

The teachers at SMC are usually from neighboring UNIVERSITIES like UCLA. I'd say the quality of instruction there is in the top tier of CC's if not almost on par with 4-year universities. I've taken classes at UCLA and graduated this year from USC with a BA, and I can definitely attest that SMC is VERY good.

Santa Barbara CC is awesome. Housing would be expensive (it is everywhere in Santa Barbara) but the classes are very good, and the campus is on the beach essentially.

SMC is very good. I attended GCC and it's a small college if that's what you'd rather have. I went to GCC instead of SMC just because Santa Monica is too close to LMU which is where i fuxored up my freshman year and my parents didnt want me anywhere near that area. People in LA usually go to PCC just because its closer. The students at GCC look like they're going clubbing though everyday though.

some of those are the silliest reasons to rate SMC as a horrible school. almost any popular and reputable JC will be like that. they oversell their parking. They have more students than classes ALL THE TIME. guess what buddy, it's like that when you get to a four year school, esp if you go to a big public school. if units are 11 dollars each, i wonder why so many people are there.

waiting in line is a fact of life. poor you having to wait more than a minute for something. oh no.

teachers will respect you if you respect them in return. there are quite a few jc students that treat jc's like an extension of high school when they should be preparing themselves for more in the future. perhaps your friends had a few flaky professors but on the whole some are good at what they do. i know i took two classes at a jc for summer school and not only where they some of the easiest classes i ever took in my life, but the professors were pretty cool.

no night life?! if you have a car, go into LA!

no jobs?! jobs are everywhere. if you're looking for a 20 dollar an hour student job, HAHAHAHAHA. be reasonable. there are a few out there but you have to look hard to get it. if you're going to be lazy, enjoy working in the usual barely over min wage jobs.

when you get to a four year school there are international students there also. oh no! run!

high rent? you don't want to live near SMC - it's so close to the beach, so of course rent is expensive! you're in LA too... what did you expect? 300 a month will get you a hole in the wall.

it is a jc - not a school to prep you for all. it will have all the ge's you need to transfer to most any school you want if you follow the right path.

Orange Cost College, CA. One time Playboy ranked it has one of the best looking women for junior colleges.

But the asians and persians are dominating there

Plus more then half of them can not even speak english. I do have a big problem with that

And last since I live in Santa Monica area (paid for that school with taxes), I should get priority over any international student or out of state/city student but that doesn't happen

hey toad, this is a public school and everybody's taxes go to it, it doesn't matter if you live in Santa Monica or Sacramento. maybe the Persians and Asians are taking over because it is such a good schoooool.

then you shouldn't go to PCC or Mt. SAC either, there are too many Asians there anyways. Hell, you shouldn't go to any universities or colleges in CA. Try Idaho.
