need advice for resume objective

Objective: Looking to switch into the securities industry with *Company A* where I can apply my strong quantitative and technical skills, as well as my engineering background

the thing is... I am submitting it through my university and it only allows resume submission

Do this; call it a profile or a summary but don't mess around with writing an objective.

Also if you are changing fields, in the experiences part of your resume try to really think about how you can phrase things so that your skills & experiences are readily transferable to the job you are seeking. As always try to be as reasonably specific as you can without being too detailed. Saying you want to use your quantitative skills is a bit generic.

get rid of the objective. it is usually a general statement anyways which i call bs.

Don't include it. And, you could even go as far as me and not write a cover letter either. I had several interviews last semester at large software companies and startups without it. I now have a job lined up at a startup

Although, if your gpa sucks and you don't have any experience, you may not want to follow my advice.

From what I've been told by hiring managers and HR folks is that 95% of the time they don't read that crap. They're more interested in seeing if you're qualified. If it's a company that really cares how well I can BS a cover letter/objective, I probably don't really want be working for them in the first place.
