I am planning to buy a PS3 and I have some questions as I game only on PC:

What is difference between regular, slim and super slim version? Which one to buy?
Should I buy the 500GB or 12GB version? Can we install and play games on the PS3?
Can PS3 access internet via WiFi or I need a LAN cable?
How does the PS3 connect to a TV? HDMI or something else?

I am mainly buying PS3 to play god of war, so if some one can list down other must have ps3 exclusives like uncharted/infamous series, I would really appreciate it..

Buy the slim, HD is swap able but I think the 500GB is best unless you plan on NO downloads. has lan port and WIFI built in, HDMI cable.

MUST have games (depending on game likes of course)
Uncharted series for sure
Demons Souls (and dark souls)- still my favorite games
Valkyrie Chronicles.
Last of Us

Damn good games----------
Ico-shadow of Colossus pack
God of war collection
Killzone II
Journey
Little Big Planet
metal Gear
heavy Rain
Tools of Destruction(ratchet & clank)

Multi platform games worth a look--------
red Dead redemption
grand Theft Auto (new ones)
Skyrim

Just opinions.

You want the Slim. Cool, quiet, highly reliable.

The super slim is okay too but it definitely had cheaper build quality. Some people don't like the top loading drive either.

The original (fat) PS3s have PS2 backwards compatibility (not on 40GB model), SACD support, flash card reader (60GB only). They're the Cadillac model. However, they're much more prone to failure (YLOD), run hotter, and consume more electricity. They're also noisy and can't bitstream HD audio.

Should I buy the 500GB or 12GB version? Can we install and play games on the PS3?

Some games install, some don't. Most however have a cache file on the hard drive. The 500GB is probably the better bet. 12GB doesn't leave much space for downloadable games. However, you can upgrade with a bigger drive at any time. They take standard 2.5'' SATA laptop hard drives and SSDs.

Can PS3 access internet via WiFi or I need a LAN cable?
All PS3s have built in 802.11g WiFi, which maxes out at 54mbps. They also all have gigabit LAN.

How does the PS3 connect to a TV? HDMI or something else?
They all have an HDMI port as well as analogue outputs. Component cables are sold separately. You can also output to composite if you have an old standard def TV.

Audio can be outputted either through analogue RCA, HDMI, or TOSLINK. You can use analogue or optical audio in conjunction with HDMI video.

I am mainly buying PS3 to play god of war, so if some one can list down other must have ps3 exclusives like uncharted/infamous series, I would really appreciate it.

Most of the best exclusives have been covered in the above post.

Other games worth checking out
-Bioshock series (1, 2, and Infinite)
-Flower
-Okami HD
-Mirror's Edge
-Ratchet & Clank Future (Tools of Destruction, Quest for Booty, and A Crack In Time)
-Fallouts 3 and New Vegas
-Assassin's Creed Series
-Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch
-Valkyria Chronicles
-Bayontta (PS3 version is the worst one but it's still a good game

Honestly I'd go for the super slim, I've heard multiple accounts of the self loading blu ray drive dying on the regular slim (I read around about it after mine started to flake out). The top loading blu ray player has less that can break and to me that's more important than perceived build quality.

Nope. No headphone jack, but it does support Bluetooth headsets if you want to go the wireless route.

PS4 has a headphone jack though, oddly enough. The only thing it has that the PS3 doesn't.

I don't have wireless headphones and I don't want to purchase one..I want to use the current headphones that I have...so if the TV has a head phone jack, will it work with the PS3? What are my other options?

I don't know if you plan on buying a new ps3 or a used one. If you want to buy new I'd strongly encourage you to spend the extra $160 and get a ps4. They are starting to show up at $360 on sale and it's a great deal.
On the ps4 you can use ps now, and play the games you want to play that are on ps3. They all range in price and it's basically a digital rental. The best way is to get the game for a week, that's plenty of time to beat it instead of buying the disc and it being worth nothing afterwards.

If you insist on getting a ps3 get a slim one. They are the best of the bunch and you can find them for dirt cheap used

How is he going to play the PS3 version of GOW on the PS4?

IMO I'd stick to the console exclusives - anything available to PC Master Race is best not experienced on any console, especially something like skyrim, fall out, etc..

edit:
I see that it was recently released to PS now, meaning that he could play it from the PS4. However I've never used the service so I can't comment on quality (I don't have a PS4). That said, I stand by the other part of my message -> don't bother if a game is available to PC Master Race.

Most have already answered the technical questions, so I'll help you with the PS3 exclusive games. God of War III and Ascension were disappointing, but you'll still enjoy GOW: I and II remastered on the PS3. GOW: Ascension, Uncharted 3, and Last of Us definitely has the best graphics. I think Last of Us is over-rated... well... it's a mood piece. It is a rare existential game (so is GTA V) but I'm not a zombie/scary game type person. I don't scare easily but I actually enjoyed Alien: Isolation as a tense, moody sweaty palm game more. Remastered Shadow of Colossus/ICO is also stellar. All 3 Ratchet and Clank Future games are fun. The original 1st three are also available remastered, but I think the Future series is better.

To clarify I played Last of Us and Alien: Isolation on the PS4, but they are available on the PS3. I have played the demo of Last of Us on PS3 and Alien: Isolation is not an exclusive.

The non exclusive games I recommend that I played on PS3:
Bioshock Infinite - one of my favorite games of all time. For reference other all time fav games: (Wasteland, Ultima VI)
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas
Red Dead Redemption
Bayonetta - just because she's hot.
