Ditto'ed.

Don't all the other students have the same deadlines? If classtime is not enough, perhaps you should stay after school with her to answer what questions you still have.

Be honest with this question... is it possible that the real reason you are upset and claim she can't teach because she is preventing you from having straight A's?

As far as the comparison to college... yes, you are still in high school, but you are only a couple months from graduating and this is an AP course. You need to learn that just because someone's teaching style doesn't match your learning style... it doesn't mean there aren't ways for you to learn.

If you truly think there is something wrong here, go to your guidance counselor. But if you get told there's nothing they can do, you need to accept that and do your best.

The whole point is that you could have gotten the study guide after the second class. Therefore it was your responsibility to know the stuff and be preparted for a test. You skipped that class without permission and then didn't check to see what you missed...then you start to complain about it? On top of that you complain you got a "MIA" even though you never told the teacher where you were (and don't say she sent someone to find you, you never got permission to be out of class before you skipped it). Wow, just wow.

Just look at this class as preparation for college, because I guarantee you will have some professors along the way who cannot teach and don't speak the language very well (I've had a few...one where I didn't go to class for 2 months). You're going to have to learn that material on your own. Learn how to use your textbook. Besides, if you are a senior, your grades this semester don't really matter, as college/scholarship applications are already in, valedictorian most likely decided, etc.

Also going to throw in, especially in Engineering you're going to come across profs with really thick accents and it's gonna be difficult to understand them, and more often than not, you'll have to teach parts of the material to yourself.

You just don't seem to understand all the points myself and msparish are making, and feel you're in the right, just because you asked the teacher to skip the class. Yeah she gave you permission to skip that class, BUT NOT TO SKIP THE TEST. She doesn't care if you know the material or not. Also you claim you can manage your time, but even though you had a tough assignment in AP Java, you felt it would be in the best interest to skip this class while you knew you had a test.

Live and learn... and frankly it seems you're too obsessed about your grades, 'I don't just fall off honour roll... etc', it'll be the end of you in university, unless of course you're fine with becoming a hermit and studying 24/7. Either way it's not healthy.

My advice is to deal with it. In college half the TA's can't speak english, not to mention the prof's, so this is something you're going to have to get used to. Do you have a text book? If so, read it and teach yourself.

<Insert another "welcome to college" type comment here>

I think it is a good idea to bring it up to the administration, but the wheels of progress turn slowly in the public sector. You've only got 4 months left, and it is not good to hedge your bets on seeing a replacement teacher put in before your time is through.

Therefore it is also a good idea to do what you would have to do in college when faced with this situation - dig in, beat your head against the work, work with other students teaching each other.

It sounds liek you just tried to get out of taking a tests and are trying to conivnce yourself it was her fault, when in all actuality is yours because you didnt go to the class. The teach is allowed to do whatever they want, if you dont attend class well you are outta luck if you dont get the material. At least thats how many of my teachers were, reguardless of if you had "permission" from them or not. Is it fair? yes, because why should you be able to ditch out on class (reguardless of what it is to do, reguardless of who you get permission from, because frankly im sure all those other kids in the class had something better to be doing but still attended and got the needed material) ?
You sound like all the other "honor roll" GPA 4.0+ kids i knew in HS...whine and moan whenever you get a B cause the teachers screwed you over in some way (LOL), when its your own cocky know it all attitude that got you there in the first place.

If internet porn has taught me anything, it's that you should bang her and receive your A. Oh, and don't forget to film yourselves doing it. That's a surefire way for evidence not to get out!

OK. Back to reality. No sympathies. Your grade in this class will not matter unless you are pooching a scholarship from it. You made a decision that one class was more important than this one, and you are paying for it. I was pretty darn lazy in HS and it meant nothing when I got to college. If you can't learn how to work efficiently and accept the consequences when you screw up, you won't succeed in a real college and you won't suceed in life.

Ok first off, this isn't an AP class. This class is an advanced class (SUPPOSED to cover slightly more material than the regular avg class).

Second off, i was not trying to get out of that class or the test. No one knew about the test until the day before (My second day working on other assignments). I had no prior knowledge until immediately before I went to this class.

Third off, i wish you would stop saying "skip". I am not way skipping, playing hookey, or just goofing off. I am working on a test in another class (Which is AP).

Fourth, i do not have straight A's and i haven't since the 8th grade. I have 3 A's (2 in AP classes) the rest are B's. I cannot get an A in this class because it is next to impossible to understand her. This is the ONLY time all year i have missed her class. So whatever your opinion on the subject, it has virtually no effect.

Fifth, i am in no way cocky. I have never and will never disrespect a teacher. In my 9th grade year i had a teacher who hated me for some reason. I was quiet in that class (didn't know many people) but i knew exactly what i was doing. So he marked me late EVERY SINGLE DAY of the entire school year. When we called and talked to the Principle the principle said that the teacher in question claimed "I worried too much about my grades". I was suffering in that class, yet i said nothing and did nothing out of respect.

I have read the text book and i have done all my assignments. However, i cannot learn it well enough without a proper instructor explaining it to me.

Besides, if you are a senior, your grades this semester don't really matter, as college/scholarship applications are already in, valedictorian most likely decided, etc.

I know. I have gotten into VT, but i want to make it in the Engineering School my freshman year. I also dont want my grades to fall. I want to do the absolute best i can up until the end. (Partly because i get grounded (No friends, cell phone, car, tv, computer etc...) if i get a 'C' or lower.

It sounds liek you just tried to get out of taking a tests and are trying to conivnce yourself it was her fault, when in all actuality is yours because you didnt go to the class. Hmm, sounds like you need to go back into school my friend

ASIDE FROM THIS INCIDENT- whatever your opinion on the matter may be, she cannot teach. The class average speaks for itself. Not to mention the number of complaints she has already recieved. To go even further, as i said earlier, she was "kicked out" of the governors school because of that. Im sure she is smart, but she either cannot teach, or cannot accurately convey her ideas to people. Something needs to be done (Not replacement teacher but, at least get the other physics teacher to stay after school and help out students willing to stay (I may not be able to stay everyday because of friends, work, and other commitments, but it would certainly help).
