To be used for gaming, RPG and FPS at 1080p
Budget max 500.00 for mobo, cpu, ram and cooler Have all other parts 9case, ssd, Sata hard drive, 650W power supply, OS etc.)
Parts bought in USA
GPU already purchased: Sapphire RX 580 Nitro 8 GB.

Will buy Ryzen 5 3600 at 175.00, 16 GB Corsair vengeance LPX3200 DDR4 at 74.00, Scythe Mugen air cooler 48.00
My main question is should I go with an x570 mobo or B450? Have considered Asus Tuf, Gigabyte Aorus Pro and MSI Carbon pro.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

I would do the asus x570 tuf since I have it, and I like the features. Will allow for an upgrade later.

I made the budget decision and went with the Aorus B450 Pro Wifi for its bang for the buck feature set.

USB 3.0, USB C, 2 x m.2 slots w/ heatsink, Wifi, BT, $95 from microcenter

3600x, RX580 8gb, 2x 8gb 3200 Ram

If theres something the x570 does that mine doesn't, please let me know

B450 should be fine really, but if you're going to spend around $150 on a motherboard with some more features you might as well get a decent X570 board in the $160-180 range in my opinion.

You could go B450 Tomahawk + 3700X + 16GB 3600MHz RAM within your budget if you stick with the stock cooler included with the 3700X, which is better than the cooler included with the 3600.

PCPartPicker Part List

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor ($299.63 @ Walmart)
Motherboard: MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX ATX AM4 Motherboard ($114.89 @ B&H)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 Memory ($82.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $497.51
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Alternatively

B450 Tomahawk + 3600X + 16GB 3600MHz RAM + Scythe Mugen ~$462

X570 Aorus Elite + 3600X + 16GB 3600MHz RAM ~$478

Or stick with the regular 3600 and save some money. No matter what you choose I recommend the 3600MHz memory though.

Thanks to all for your input. I went with the Asus Tuf x570 mobo with Ryzen 3600 combo on sale at Newegg, GSkill ripjaws v series (16 gig at 3200) and the Scythe Mugen B cpu cooler.

I think the x579 allows for future cpu upgrades from 5 to 9

not smart to buy a motherboard with plans to upgrade cpu 4-5 years down the line. The AMD 4 series isn't even out. i'd save the money and get a B450 and get a new (better than 570 chipset) mb later on when you upgrade your cpu.

Even your B450 supports up to the 3950x, and it is very possible that it will also support Ryzen 4000 chips when they are released with a BIOS upgrade.

Op will do what OP will do...

also, would've gone with any Noctua cooler for your budget over scythe...
