Need advice on OC components!

Hey guys, I have a Neo2 Platiunum MB with a A64 3200+ (Winchester) cooled with a Thermaltake k8 fan....

My RAM is probably holding me back...its Mushkin ValueRAM running at 200mhz @ 3-4-4-8

I just got a Antec II 550w Smartpower PSU here on anandtech so all I need is some cooling suggestions for my cpu and some suggestions for some new ram. I want to hit 2.4 Ghz ideally....I've never OCed before and I want to make sure everything's set before I start messin' with the bios. I could spend probably around $200 (give or take $25) for both components (especially if the RAM is good enough to last me through my next upgrade---to a pci-e board and a dual-core processor). Anybody have any suggestions??

Same RAM here...well almost...mine is 2.5-3-3 ... anyway...got my 3200+ running @ 2400 ... ill do better when my XP-90 arrives...hopefully

2400Mhz should be easy and memory never hold you back you could have PC2100 and OC just fine.

Load Optimized defaults
Set HTT to 240
Set Vcore to 1.45
Set LDT to 4
Set mem to 166, 2.5-3-3-8 1T and 2.8 volts this makes memory 200Mhz like it should be

Prime a few hours

first of all , change your ram. then you need to make a 650w power supply. especially if you looking for OC. for this purpose i recommend you the enermax noise taker. around 145 bucks sli ready. and then very hook up setting on the bios. for the memory use ocz the pc4400 2.5-3-3-8 or if you looking for the maximum use the Vx (voltage extreme) 2.0 -2-2-5 1t.

ok, good thread for me to get some help on, i have a a64 winchester 3500 as well, geil ddr400 with 2.2.2.7cas and i cant seem to overclock at all, i have a msi neo4 platinum. which is apparently was a good overclocker, yet i cant get my cpu to overclock even 120mhz. i have a thermalright xp120 with a panaflo pushing over 100cfm of air, high temps are in the mid 30C's range, case temps never break 32C. also, i have a 500w psu and its a Seasonic S12-500. over 80% efficient at anything over 70W. so the psu is good.

A 650W PSU is totalllllyyyyyy overkill. Consider the Seasonic 600W
