Like everyone has stated before, power isn't everthing. You need a QUALITY psu. Try this one. I think this is the best manufacturer of psu's 26A on the 12V

Only problem I see with that one is it's only a 350 watt...and for an AMD Athlon 64 3200+ with all that I stated goes with...would that be wise? I CAN'T have random shut downs or rebooting or anything like that....although, I appreciate your kind post.

I bought the Ethermax 460 Whisper for my wifes athlon 64 3.0 gig
I use PC power and cooling exclusively.
The Ethermax has impressed me so much that I may buy it for my next upgrade.

DO NOT SKIMP ON THE POWER SUPPLY

Okay, please post opinions on these two power supplies. I don't want to go below a 400 watter, and this is what I've found. Please give honest opinions for the system I'm putting it in:

Ethermax 460 Watt (Look at the amps!): Link Here

Ethermax 535 Watt (18 AMP...YIKES) Don't understand why such a high price fer an 18 AMP: Link Here

These prices are WAY above what I am capable of spending....but I'll just HAVE to find the $ somehow.

You do not need a 500Watt PSU. Your system probably wont come anywhere near 400.

I would HIGHLY recommend a Seasonic Super Tornado. ~$60-70. Very high quality, and almost silent. >80% efficiency also. Much better deal than the Tt. However i do agree with Apoppins description of the Tt. It is budget and good for light to moderate OCing.

Also it is Enermax.

If you dont like the Seasonic for some strange and unknown reason look at Fortron and Sparkle. The Antec TruePowers are somewhat outdated and outclassed but they are the same legendary PSU's for a decent price.

that 350 watt enermax fibes linked you would be ample for your setup.

the reason the 18A PSU is expensive is because it has 2 rails, 18A each.

Unless you have 8 hard drives and every PCI slot full, you can get away with a 350 W PSU. Find a quality brand (in the 400-450W range for a little buffer) w/ at least 22A on the 12V. That will easily run your system. If you get a cheapo PSU, though rated highwer, will perform much worse than a quality one. Would you rather have a 500W PSU that will power your system for $60 but blow up after a month, or a quality 400W PSU that wuill easily power your system and have no problems?

If you really do need that much power, you are going to want to save up another $20 or just find a really good deal.

Okay, last post asking advice on power supplies for this computer.....this is the one I've narrowed down for the AMD Athlon 64 3200+, 128MB 8x AGP, 160 Gig HD, 512 MB PC3200 DDR (for now...will be upping to 1 Gig), lots of internal lighting (cold cathode, two pairs....LED Fans (5):

Link here

Please tell me this is the right one fer the job.

Okay, that's all good....but where do I get it? HOPEFULLY NewEgg has it. I want a decent power supply, and my Brother is insisting on ordering it tonight. I've been trying to find the right one, and surely wasn't too impressed with the Enermax on the +12 Volt Rail.

Ribbon13...could you POSSIBLY help me find one on NewEgg that will be more than enough power for the system? This is keeping the system dead in the water until then. Got ALL together...just no PS!

Dude.. for $99 you can get a PCP&C Silencer 470
http://www.pcpowerandcooling.com/produc...pplies/ultra_quiet/silencers/index.htm

Those 26A are rated at 50 degrees celsius, at which point the Enermax only puts out 23A... its called a derating curve.

Okay, I need a little help. You must understand that I can't go by just one persons suggestion. I need to see reviews on this power supply...but I can't find ANY...ANYWHERE. Can you help? I do appreciate the advice....but I need reviews, as my Brother is requesting them, due to a faulty power supply recently.

I mean, it sounds good...just please understand that I need to have some data (aside from the companies own web site).

All the attention went to the 510 SLI. How about this for PCP&C's emminence... their 510 SLI wass the first and only certified PSU by nVidia for SLI for a long time. Guess what? Now it's not.. because thier 850 ETX is #2... That's right only 2 psu's certified by nVidia both by PCP&C. The have been used in Maximum PC's dream machine for as long as I can remember

Lookee 510 SLI and 850 SSI certified->

PC Power & Cooling and Zippy have been pretty much alone at the top of the PSU food chain for some time now. There aren't a lot of reviews of PCP&C because they are only sold in North America while a lot of the fanboy sites are elsewhere. Besides which, the great majority of PSU reviewers on the fanboy sites wouldn't know how to really test a PSU if their lives depended on it. Tomshardware does a fairly good job of it and a recent comparo of PSUs on a brit site was done properly. But I seldom see a test on the fanboy sites where the PSU in question is even stressed to half power - some don't even use a DMM to measure the voltages, relying instead on the hardware monitor software - absurd! An O-scope trace of the outputs as they approach maximum? Or a proper cross-regulation test? Never...
. Another way to tell about the quality of a PSU is to check the weight. And if you see a Sanyo-Denki, Delta or Nidec dual ball bearing fan staring back at you when you peer through the fan grille, then you know that corners aren't being cut - quality fans are among the first casualties of the bean counters...
. Anyway, I would not hesitate to put a PCP&C "Silencer" or "TurboCool" PSU in any system of mine or a Zippy or a Fortron/Sparkle 'FSP' series. Any of those with 25A or so available on the +12 will comfortably run any system that will fit into a mid-tower case.
