Need advice on this TV someone is selling at work

Ayup. Most HD broadcasts today are 1080i. ABC does 720p and I'm not sure what ESPN-HD is going to be but 720P would be better for the sports action. Whatever tuner you get to receive HD broadcasts will most likely have the ability to convert 720p to 1080i for that set.

Of course. Dude $500 is a steal. Take it. It's a good TV. It was one of the few I narrowed down in my decision (but i am gonna buy a Toshiba 50h82). The only downside I can see is that it doesn't accept a 720p signal. Maybe it upconverts it to 1080i but there's no mention. Even without that its a freakin steal!

i'm just waiting for a reply. i asked what was wrong with it and if it came with any type of warranty on it. if it doesn't have an extended warranty, i might just pass on it.

Could probably tack on an extended warranty...find out where he got it from. But, heck, get the set, have it calibrated by an ISF tech (that link I posted above should help or try Home Theater Spot, too.

It will do 720p (upconverted to 1080i by the tuner)....the tuner he'd get would output 1080i. I don't know of any DirecTV/DISH/OTA tuners that wouldn't do that.
