I am building a gaming and student work rig after the 22nd from newegg based around overclocking the q6600 (probably B3) as much as possible without water-cooling, and I need to know if the following components are compatible/reliable. I won?t upgrade anything for at least 2-3 years (that is why I want the quad), and the budget is roughly $2000 for thecomponents listed. NO SLI or multi speaker surround sound plans for the future.

Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3R LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard

Processor: q6600 (core2duo e6600 if I cant find a quad core soon after the 22nd)

Memory: 2 x 2Gb 800mhz 240 pin G Skill F2-6400CL6S-2GBMQ (or same speed Mushkin for a few dollars more?)

Hard drive: Samsung Spinpoint T 7200RPM 500GB

Graphics: geforce 8800 gts 640mb evga 640-P2-N821-AR

Sound: Onboard

PSU: OCZ GameXStream OCZ700GXSSLI ATX12v 700watts

Speakers: Logitech X230 2.1 32 watts

Monitor: SCEPTRE X20WG-Naga Black 20.1in 5ms widescreen (to watch movies sometimes)

System: Vista 64 bit home (Will windows x64 have continued support or is it a short term fix?)

Case: Thermaltake Armor Series VA8000BWS (Is the full tower really needed or is mid size ok?)

Cooling: stock fans and tuniq tower cpu cooler, possibly pci slot cooler for the video card

Optical: 2x LG 18X DVD?R DVD Burner with 12X DVD-RAM Write

Logitech deluxe Keyboard and premium optical mouse

Network: TRENDnet TEG-PCITXR 10 gigabit network adapter

Wireless: edimax wireless network card ew 7128g

Any suggestions, especially those on how to make it cheaper or more effective, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Why buy a 7.1 sound card and 2.1 speakers??

Buy a bigger monitor.

Looks fine.

I prefer the Centurien 5 case...

Get Acer AL2051W instead for the same money, it has a very rare 8-bit panel with 176 degree viewing angles, an absolute steal for $199.
Also, you won't need 700W of power, get a better quality PSU for with less wattage, Corsair 520hx or 620hx would do the job perfectly, buy.com has a better price on these.
Rest looks fine, Good luck.
