Need advice with my case cooling project.

I've been researching the best way to cool my PC case and I came to conclusion that the a very good/cheap way to increase the air circulation is to use fan ducts. I will install a 120mm bottom front fan and build a duct from this fan to the chipset/heatsink. I want the air to blow near the CPU - not over it. Now, here is a part of the project I'm not sure it will work: I want to build another duct going from the cpu fan (which blows the hot air out of a CPU) to the side fan of the Enermax PS (which blows the air into the PS and then the second PS fan blows it out of the case).
Please let me know if this can work.
My setup:
XP 1600+ and I just ordered swiftech 462 with Pabst fan. For the front I bought 120mm Panaflo.
If needed I will place a 80mm Zalman fan just below PS to blow air out.

Does this HSF blow onto the HS or suck from it? If it blows onto it, then you would be better served to have the duct over the HSF.

All my plans are based on the assumption that the fan blows the air out of the CPU. Isn't that the case with most HSFs? If not, what's better: sucking the air out or blowing it on the heatsing?

its hard to say but i think individual results may vary

coolers with a fan shroud usually pull air from the heatsink. without a shroud blow onto the heatsink.

First, you need to check to see if your HS sucks or blows. Next, you need to test it in the opposite direction. My Volcano 2 came with the fan mounted to suck. Turning it around to blow lowered temps 3 degrees C. After doing this, you can decide what ducting to do. I wouldn't duct a 120 to the chipset heatsink, but that's just me. If your CPU HS sucks, duct the 120 to the CPU. If your CPU does best with a HS/fan that blows, then duct that air to a rear 80 mm exhaust. I wouldn't duct it to your powersupply fan, as that will increase your power supply temp, thus shortening its life. If you are lowering your CPU temp by ducting, the air in your case should be cool enough that you won't even need to duct anything to the chipset.

Since I ordererd Swiftech 462 I checked couple of reviews and a Swiftech's site and it turns out that the fun should blow, not suck. So I guess I have to rethink my design. I know one thing for sure, the duct from 120mm fan will blow air directly over the heatsink fan.
