i am currently own asus 32MB V7700, and some one offer me to swap the card with the voodoo5 5500, is it worth to swap the card? actually i dont like my v7700 because the 2D application is very bad, any voodoo5 user i need your opinion is it the 2D quality of voodoo5 is really good? thx

check the sig. I have both.

the 5500 is far, far superior in 2d image quality to the GTS.

This is especially noticeable in resolutions above 1024, on 19" monitors, and on trinitron-tubed monitors.

I'd do the swap in a heartbeat (oopps, wait a minute, I already did, heh...)

They have drivers for it, yes. I have one running in both ME and 2K with DX8 and the DX8 drivers and it works fine. It doesn't have DX8 features though, if that's what you meant.

Best tweek guides available. Make sure you check out the nt compatible for Win2k. His tweeks seem to give a MAJOR MAJOR upgrade to performance under win2k

the latest drivers are 1.04 for DX8 and 1.03 for DX7

also, make sure Sure SURE that you COMPLETELY uninstall the nvidia drivers you have.

i had MAJOR major problems with the 5500 until I got rid of all the nvidia drivers. they really muck things up, and don't think that "uninstalling" them works. it doesn't.

may want to reformat.

Robotech, I had no trouble going from a TNT2u to a V5, and those are the same set of drivers. In fact, the 5.13 detonators are still on my computer, I think.
Han888, the 1.04's are the best drivers available. Go with them. And make sure you enable refresh optimization and set depth precision to faster, it makes a big speed difference.

yup, i just swap today with jai (insane hardware.com) and so far this card it's run great here! the 2D quality it look better than geforce
