Looking to replace the IBM mouse at work, it's progressively giving me RSI/CTS or something of that sort.

My thoughts are to get a trackball for CAD/PC work and general use:
Logitech Marble Mouse 4-Button USB PS/2 Trackball
or
Kensington Orbit Optical Trackball

I would like to buy two, so trying to get informed as best as possible.

I quite like my Logitech Trackman Wheel, although there's too much friction between the ball and its supports, which makes low-speed movements rather difficult. It is supremely comfortable, though, because it puts my hand at a much more natural angle than a regular mouse does. A trackball is definitely worth a try.

Up until recently I was using the original Trackman Marble FX. Its switches started going gimpy, so I bought a couple of the Marble Mouse and the one I use (other is backup) works fine for me. They are no FX, but plenty good enough for the price and as close to the original as you can get from them now. You do have to pop the ball out occasionally and clean the gunk off the guide pins and the laser window for best operation. And like the original, with just occasionall cleaning they'll last until the switches start giving out. I also like that the MM is ambi.

AFAIK, the orbit uses the ordinary mechanical/optical rollers just like an ancient upside-down mouse and will need much more frequent cleaning than a marble.

Been using a Logitech Trackball for years, for work and for gaming and would not trade it for anything.

I just clean it regularly and mine works fine.

Same here,

Works great, except every once in a while you gotta pop out the ball and clean out the thumb cheese
