Need BFG 6800 Ultra Evaluation Advice

I just bought a BFG 6800 Ultra video card on ebay. I got a great deal, but I want to test the card when it arrives to I can be sure it isn't a faulty card that someone is trying to dump.

How should I evaluate the performance of the card when it arrives? Any advice is appreciated.

Take off the Heatsink and the fan and test the card like that...the longer it lives, the better it was

3DMark is a benchmarking utility? What sort of performance should I expect to see?

I guess I'm looking for some sort of quantative evaluation procedure rather than qualitative. I've been playing with a slow system for so long, I can't tell the difference between a good card and a great card. If I have some standards, I can do a better job of evaluating the card.

I'm using an Athlon 3000+, Socket 939, 90 nm CPU. Not overclocked.

Its "rthdribl" - Real-Time High Dynamic Range Image-Based Lighting

Its a demo program that basically really stresses out your video card. It'll heat up your card quite a bit too. Run it in WINDOWED mode with your NVidia control panel off to the edge so that you can just see the temperature readings, then resize the "rthdribl" window to as big as you can get it while still being able to see the temperature readings. Run it for a good 20 minutes and you'll probably see your video card's temperature rise to 80oC or even more. Don't be afraid ahahah.
