*Requirements
-Candy bar (or if clamshell, it needs to be strong because it's going to be dropped)
-Tough/Quality
-Bluetooth
-GSM
-I need to purchase unlocked since I'm in a contract.

I've got about $250 to spend, but I'd be really happy if I could get it for less than that.

How are the SLVR's (moto L6/L7)?

Amazon Unlocked Phones
Tiger Direct Unlocked Phones

Edit: I had a Nokia 6101: and it broke in half at the hinges from dropping

I'd get a Nokia. They can handle good beatings. I suggest you look at the 6101 / 6102 / 6103? Something bulky.

The SLVR's have an aluminum shell and plus its very thin. It wouldn't serve as a good shock absorber / beating.

Why do you think it is going to drop all the time even if you can't take care or treat it well? Do you ever drop your baby? If not then don't drop your cellphone!

When was the last time you put a baby in your pocket?

I know it's going to drop because the one I have broke because of abuse. It always falls out of my pocket when I sit down.

Are you really an ABUSER? Anyway make sure you ask to see if they can offer you an insurace. I have one with T-Mobile and they give me 2 replacements per year.

Don't you have to pay a $100 deductible?

SLVR's don't take beatings too well and that oh-so-perdy screen is scratched rather easily. I had mine in a rubber case and it still scared the crap out of me that it was going to get scratched.

You can buy those protective sheets if you are that worried about scratches, or you can just use the toothpaste method and polish almost any scratch out. Gleem toothpaste works great. I've fixed a lot of scratched displays with it.

What the heck kind of chairs do you sit in that tilt you far enough back to dump your phone from you pocket?

Anyway, this could all be rendered moot if you got a belt clip or holster, or maybe just sat up straight in your chair.

I dont know who your service provider is, but if you use tmobile, pick up one of http://www.t-mobile.com/shop/P...415c-b3b8-69b64db71442]these[/url] t509 prepaid kits for $50. Then sell the prepaid sim and airtime on ebay for another $10 for the sim and $20 for the $25 airtime card. If you use another carrier, they can be unlocked for about $20-30 from what I see. Or maybe you could get Tmobile to unlock it for you (tell them you are going abroad and need a unlock code, sometimes they will give it out).

I just recently switched from a T629 slider which was awful.

I now own a Motorola V3X. google V3X reviews, and you will find it is a durable, handy phone

ericsson at the beginning had some problems which I couldn't cope with, but I will have to say the W800i, W810i, K750i are all very great phones, I would say they're very durable also.
