At a glance, that looks decent. I'll leave it for others to say if that water-cooler is compatible and adequate for that CPU, and the monitor.. Everything else looks high-quality and compatible.

Don't forget an "Accel" or "Nixus" brand VESA-COMPLIANT DisplayPort cable, I think Amazon carries those.

Here are the reviews I used for selecting the monitor. it seems to be great value and overclockable up to 115 hz. Being a VA panel it is sort of going to fall in between an TN and IPS displays and act like a jack of all trades performance wise.

https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/msi-optix-mag341cq-curved-ultra-wide-gaming-monitor,5959.html

And those reviews were done when it was released at $500, Microcenter has it for $379 on sale so I went ahead and pulled the trigger on it as it seems really hard to go wrong for that price.

I have always heard how the cable industry is extremely misleading in their marketing and how much price gouging goes on in cables. Are these "VESA-COMPLAINT" DP cables necessary over the DP cable that would come with the monitor?

Thanks

It's not so much "pricy cables", like HDMI Monster cables and whatnot, and more like "properly-made cables". You see, the DP cable spec has power on like pin 19 or something, and proper VESA-spec compliant cables, don't pass power on that pin to the host. Improper cables can back-feed +5V (IIRC) into your PC. Which can do BAD THINGS. Just trying to keep you safe, that's all. The "proper" cables don't cost too much, like $15-30.

They're not like "audiophile" cables.

Or just look for cheaper cables with decent reviews that either mention VESA compliance, or don't mention back-feeding voltage.
