I don't mind:
You might want to check out the PC 150 and PC 160 from Sennheiser (spelling?).

My only gripe with the A-500 is the HUGE cans, can I find some pictures and also measurements? If it really is as big as a CD then I might go with the HD 280...

Can you tell me what the diameter of the cups are?
Does anyone have any pics of the HD280 compared to CD's or the A500 for a perspective on how big those are? Can I get a measurement for the cups on the HD 280 as well?
Anyway pictures on the A500 are welcome!

Alright, I need some headphones to frag on battlefield 2 while everyone is asleep

Ha ha, I did that with the Joint Operations beta for a couple weeks. On school nights. Staying up when everyone was in bed till 3:00-3:30 A.M. Listened through my Panasonic Headphones. Slightly uncomfortable but great bass production. I love them. Did that habit for 2 weeks. Came to school with red eyes. Those were a cool two weeks.

I just ordered the HD280, and would be glad to measure the diameter of the cups when the phones get here Thursday if someone hasn't done so before. I'll be using them mostly for music, though.

The cups on my HD280s started out pretty ridged but over time they mold to your head.

So, they kind of flattened out so I'm not sure what the original measurements are, but if you think about them at a doughnut, the hole diameter is 2.75" vertically and 2" horizontally. The "outside" of the doughnut is 4.5" vertically and 3.25" horizontally.

Did that make sense?

Yeah, Jello that made sense. But how big is the hole of the doughnut? Is it big enough so that the outer doughnut can go around your ears?
@thecoolnessrune: Lol, that was kinda like me except i was doing my finals all night. I came to school with closed eyes.
I think i'm getting the Sennheiser HD280 Pros cause I don't like the size of the cups for the A500.

So here are a few questions:

1: So how do I burn in the headphones? Do I have to leave them on 24/7? Or can I use them normally and overtime they change? Or do I have to play it 24/7 with some crazy songs with crazy lows and highs? How many hours will it take? And if I have to do the thing wtih the crazy songs, what songs would you reccomend?

2: Any places with good deals on the HD 280 Pros? (I.E. Newegg, Zipzoomfly, etc.) I'm going to check out a few places with froogle and the real time pricing engine thing over here.

3: Can anyone find me some good deals on the PC 150s? I *MIGHT* get theese and I want to know some places I can buy them from.

4: Oh yeah and also answer the doughnut question up there^

Thanks for all the help so far! Anandtech is so awesome!

Get the Audio-Technica ATH-A500. After reading many posts versus the hd280 i went with the Audio-Technica ATH-A500 as they tend to be a bit better than the hd280's though this is probably due to personal preference as most ppl have one or the other. I heard if you don't mind the size get the Audio-Technica ATH-A500 as they are pretty big and since these will be being used at home I didn't mind the size. Supposedly, the Audio-Technica ATH-A500 are more comfortable than the hd280's.

The hole is the hole diameter I meantioned (2.75 vertically, 2.0 horizontally). I can't say if it will go around without knowing how big your ears are.

To break them in, yeah just play them. If you want to break in faster then you can leave them on 24/7.

OOS for now (or call them and check), but $74 otherwise.
