Need help and don't know where to start

Indianapolis 500 is coming up fast. Usually have a nice party at my fathers house. The past few years I've taken my laptop with me and used the HDMI output to connect to his HDTV on his patio. The first year I was able to find a site that was streaming live video of the race, and I was able to play it on the TV for the family to watch. The following few years dad's asked me if I could do it again, and i've been able to find a site to stream from and do it again. But it's mostly been luck in stumbling across them. Last year I actually PAID to sign up for a years service for a site just to do it because I couldn't find anything streaming the race.
Does ATOT have any race fans that could point me in the right direction to a site that is streaming this? I'm totally willing to pay for a reputable site if it requires membership with a one time fee. Thanks for the space!!

Race day is broadcast on ABC. Since ABC does not require cable or satellite service why don't you just hook up an antenna to his hdtv?

My dad built an antenna the first year I tried the laptop. And we found that with the antenna you had to have almost line of sight to the transmitter. We are in Indiana, less than an hour north of Indy....but we couldn't get any signal from there..

If you have ESPN 3 you can stream it from http://www.indycar.com. Not all internet provider have ESPN 3 but I'm sure you can get it if you sign up for an AT&T email account.

Thanks. I'll be watching Indycar.com leading up to the race. I just don't know what they are offering in the way of the race. If it will only be "on car cameras" or if there will be shots from around the track. With probably 20 guests coming for the annual cookout, I don't want to dissapoint with crappy feeds. Does your father have any type of TV service? Does he live in a rural area where you can't get any cable/FiOS/DSL? You could have a simple service installed then shut off after the race.

He lives in a rural area. And his best option for service is DSL. Which he does have. I'm trying to keep the ear to the ground and searching for a few good options for possible sources streaming the race. We are so close, we are in the "blackout" circle. Which i'll never possibly understand why they do that....so just getting a cable package isn't an option I don't think. Thanks for the idea though!

Ah, I thought maybe you'd be outside of it. I find it odd that the race isn't being simulcast on their website. With Newman/Haas pulling out there may not even be a full 33 car field. You'd think they'd want every eyeball they can get watching it.

i'm back on here.....i've got 2 laptops feeding 2 tv's.....and the source set from indycar.com any other race fans out there watching this feed from somewhere online that I can use as a backup source..?
