Vista 64 bit sp1
evga geforce 8800gts
Well out of the blue im getting the dreaded "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered". At first I couldnt play wow the graphics would blur and eventually crash. I tried changing the power cord to another one for the gpu, same thing.
I cant restore cause I cleaned the pc and the restore points was erased. At this moment im Re-installing XP to see if its a operating system related error or the gpu itself, or I guess it could be the PSU? Any suggestions?
Edit
Well after installing xp I cant seem to update my nvidea driver properly with the newest patch release, and the archives doesnt show a patch before that one. I need to know if my gpu is crappiin out on me or not. God spending hours on this all night
Well I been at it some more, reinstalled xp again and made a restore point at bare bones(fresh XP install nothing on).
When I try installing the driver from nvidea it says incorrect command line paramaters and says code 10 in device manager. When I try installing the driver from EVGA it seems to install correctly says deviced working properly in device manager, but when you restart pc everything is totally distorted. When I install driver from evga videocard installation cd it installs fine and seems to be working with this outdated driver, guess not its unstable with random graphical glitches leading to a lock up.
Whats going on, I really need help as time is slipping by. Strange that the card had graphical instability on vista 64 alll of a sudden and now I cant install up to date drivers on a freshly installed xp
EDIT>>>
Well I tried replacing the 8800gts with a 6600gt and after I installed the drivers for the 6600gt and restarted the screen was corrupted. So I powered down and took out my soundlblaster xfi , 3 gigs, and restarted. Now I cannot get bios to recognize my sata drive.
Finally got sata drive recognized in a different port, so I started up now with 1 gig ram no soundblaster and uninstalled display driver, reinstalled 6600gt driver, restart, graphics corrupted
Is this a mobo problem?
