I'm trying to build eight computers for a science lab at school. I have a budget of $5000. The computers will be used for weather image data manipulation. They get the data from a server over a 10/100 switched network and then do all the processing/manipulation themselves. The only stipulation is that I must buy from "reliable" vendors (e.g. buy.com, onvia.com) since I'm spending school money. Here's what I have spec'ed out:
Soyo K7VTA Motherboard
AMD Duron 750MHz.
128MB PC100 CL2 memory (from eshop.macsales.com)
Western Digital 20GB Hard Drive
50X CD-ROM Drive
ATI Xpert 128 16MB Graphics Card (no 3D graphics required, just fast 2D)
Linksys 10/100 Network Card
Creative SBS16 Speakers (sound isn't really important)
Floppy Drive
Generic Case (Available Here)
Can anyone find any problems with what I've picked out? Any incompatibilities? Anything else I should know? Thank you for your help!
