Need help choosing Dell Inspiron 8500 display resolution?

Getting ready to buy a dell Inspiron 8500 wide screen. I'm not sure what screen resolution to go with. The choices are: 1280x800, 1680x1050, and 1920 x 1200. Can anyone help me out here?

What resolution do you run your desktop's monitor at? are you happy with the sizes everything looks?

Not quite the same, but I had the option the beginning of this week between a Dell Latitude D600 @ 1.3GHz with 14.1" screen @ 1024x768, or a Latitude C640 @ 2GHz with a 14.1" screen @ 1400x1050.

Although I would have preferred the Centrino, the higher resolution of the C640 won it for me, at the expense of battery life and wireless.

I had the advantage also of seeing the 1400x1050 in person, as my boss has the same laptop. If you can go to BB or CC or a Dell stand somewhere, and have a look, you can see for yourself.

I would probably go for the 1920x1200 if i wanted things really small (like running 1600x1200 on a 17" CRT) or 1680x1050, but not 1280x800 though, that's too small

If 1600x1200 on a 19 inch CRT is too small for you, pick the lowest res. If your eyes are really good and you like lots of screen real estate, pick the highest res. If you want something in between, pick the middle one. If you want a more detailed explanantion, read Confused's post.

go for highest, but thats just my likings, i love having the most real estate possible. , those are some freaky res's tho, guess its because of widescreen

I currently use an Inspiron 8200 with a 15 inch display and 1600 by 1200. I find that it's "optimal" resolution actually hurts my eyes. Yet, it looks fine at lower "non optimal" resolutions...
