Need help desperately-colors everywhere

Alright, first off i have to let you all know i am posting on another PC, as mine is not functioning at the moment. About 8 hours ago i got the blue screen of death while playing world of warcraft. I was reading on the forums(wow forums) and people where having problems with vista and the game, so i assumed it was just some compatability issues they would work out. Then about 2 hours later i got the same blue screen while i was on the web. Now my computer wont even boot, as soon as it gets past the windows loading bar the blue screen appears and the comp reboots. I have crazy colors all over my screen when there are any colors(such as a colored loading bar), if its a black and white loading screen the text is all distorted. I saw online that people fixed the blue screen issue by reformating. I reformated my PC and nothing changed, still colors and lines everywhere and it wont boot up. This is leading me to believe its a hardware issue but i have no idea where to start. Some specs for my PC are as follows

Video card=8800 GTX superclocked(this is stock, i did not superclock the videocard, it came like this)
CPU=Q6600
Motherboard=x38
Operating System=Vista 64 bit


If there is any other info you need please let me know.


also just as a side note, i am sorry if my post seems scrambled and disorganized, i have been up all night trying to fix this and am in sort of a panic because i need it for school, thanks

Try backing your OC'ed card down to stock settings.

sorry should have been more clear, the card came superclocked, i have not altered anything with it(edited my post aswell)

well a few things to try, is their artifacting there? can you boot to safe mode and reinstall drives? can you get into your bios? Try resetting that to optmized settings or whatever they call it now, what psu are you using? that may be an issue as well.

You handed yourself the correct diagnosis in saying, "as soon as it gets past the windows loading bar."

Meaning up until then, its using windows generic drivers, telling you your monitor is OK, and past the windows loading bar, the video displaying tasks are assumed by the 8800GTX video card, and the drivers that go with it. And as you said, totally screwing up everything thereafter. Telling you that its either the video card or its drivers that are screwed up.

I am too lazy to check to see if your mobo has any on board video capacity, but if it does, remove the 8800gtx card, and switch to the on board video and your computer should at least boot up and do school work. Even if it can't keep up on gaming. Its also remotely possible that the 8800gtx card video drivers on your CD are not reading correctly into your computer, so try to download a independent copy off the web.

Assuming its in the hardware of the 8800GTX card, you can then replace it .
