I'll try to provide as much info as possible:
Skyhawk aluminum black case:
80mm intake
60mm exhaust
Enermax 650W Power supply: 90mm + 80mm thermally controlled fans
Thermalright AX7 + Thermaltake Smart Fan (47-53 cfm depending on temperature)
Abit KX7-333 mobo
AMD Athlon XP 2100+, 13 x 141, PC2100 DDR at CL2
Stock voltages
Artic Silver 2 on the GeForce 3 core and the KT333 chipset
GeForce 3 has OEM heatsink + fan, and ramsinks
KT333 has the Abit fan + heatsink
Crucial PC2100 DDR
I have two HDs,
IBM 75GXP and Maxtor D740x. both run fairly warm (IBM is cooled down to 32-38C thanks to the alum chassis), Maxtor runs 42-50C typically
NOW the problem is:
When I built this comp a few days ago, the weather was cool - 50-70F.
Now the temp SKYROCKETED to 90F+ and my computer has been crashing every few minutes.
I am running XP Pro SP-1. I get no BSOD, it just crashes. I hit the reset and it reboots.
My system temp is around 38-40C
My CPU temp:
idles 49C
peak is about 53C
Short of throwing on a SK-6 plus a Delta 8000 RPM fan, what should I be doing?
I seriously dont think its the CPU getting too hot, because it runs 50-52C even in 60F weather and its rock solid stable.
When the ambient temp rose to 90F, the problems started.
Abit never applied thermal compound to the KT333, so I applied AS2 (Since I found I could squeeze an additional 13 MHz for the core and memory using AS2 on my GeForce 3) - but it still crashes.
What should I do???
141 MHz FSB is not high at all, I wanted to build a quiet but decent performing system (I get 9300-9400 3dmarks, with 141 FSB and GeForce at 243/543)
as you can see I'm overclocking the system but not by a whole lot.
Is my KT333 overheating?
Any ideas?
Thanks
