NEED HELP! ECS K7S5A booting problem

Hi...

This board booted once, but paused after the RAM check.... after that, I turned it off... when I tried to boot it again and since then it only leave a blank screen and beeps 8 times with a pause then 8 times... and so on. I have no clue what it's trying to tell me. I couldn't find the information in the manual to tell me what the beeps meant, but I tried clearing the CMOS and it didn't seem to have an effect.

I've tested the processor on another system with the same mobo and it booted w/o any problems...

Any help would be greatly appreciated..

try that ram on another board as well....Sounds like possible ram issue.

Try removing and reseating your graphics card and memory.

is correct, it's that the AGP card isn't seated properly. Reseat it 5or6 times to break in the slot and make sure it's completely seated and not slanted in the slot(happens while screwing to case sometimes) and when it's in right the problem will be resolved.

I don't know why you got the beeps but a lot of people seem to have this problem with the board checking the Ram, including myself. My problem seemed to be a faulty IDE cable.

Okay - me again. Reseating it did not seam to help. We've tested most of the components including ram, psu, and video card.... it'd be good if we knew what the eight beeps were trying to say.

The 8 beeps mean it's a problem with the vid card, as is indicated Here

They're saying "You should have bought a decent motherboard instead of this piece of garbage".

Actually they mean you don't have a video card installed - but we know you do, so see the above definition.

Reseat and remove the card 10 or 12 times - maybe you'll get lucky.

I just bought this same board. First time I booted, I got eight beeps. Reseated my video card and that did the trick. Now if I can just stop it from freezing up on me....

I have two systems using the K7S5A board and have some experience with it.

Here is another idea.....

I had this problem on one of my boards back in August. The fix for me and a number of other folks was this....

Install a PCI vid card and try to boot up(hopefully you have an old one laying around or can borrow from a friend). Very possibly the board will now boot. Then shut down, remove the PCI vid card and install the AGP card and boot up. Now it may boot normally with the AGP card.

I have no idea why this would be, but there were a number of posts on this isssue back in the summer when this board first came out.
