Need help finding a 55" TV

I'm not sure where the best place to look for a TV is anymore, it's been too long!

I'm looking for a 55", preferably 4k tv but it doesn't have to be. The TCL of course looks good based on price, but I'm wondering about quality of the television - what are the best quality 4k TV's right now? Where can you find the the best price for them?

Uses will be netflix (etc) and occasional gaming.

I'm looking in the 500-1000 price range.

If you can stretch the budget to $1200 you can get the 55" Samsung KS8000. It has everything, UHD Premium Certification, low input lag for gaming even in HDR mode (below 26ms), all the streaming apps with HDR support including YouTube HDR support(Samsung is currently the only TV manufacturer I know of to do YouTube HDR). The Next step down from that would probably be a Vizio M series TV but it lacks Wide Color Gamut support for HDR.


In all honesty I'd either spend the extra for the Samsung now or hold out for new models next year and snag a deal on a better set when they start dropping price. I think other models in that size range are either much more expensive or much lower quality at this time. CES is in Janurary and we will see the new models from all manufacturers. Then into the spring and summer the new models will start shipping to retail. It's not uncommon to find deals on last year's models to clear stock.

I own the Samsung KS8500 and can say it is one super nice TV. Same as the KS8000 but mine has a slight curve. Really is worth every penny.

I picked up the Samsung KS8000 last week because our old plasma died. Got it for $780 including tax on the EPP, it looks amazing after making some adjustments.
