need help, getting memory errors

I got 1 gig of ram, 1 stick 512mb kingston and another stick of samsung pc 3200

Now when i play half life 2, it closes down and this error pops up saying:

"The instruction at "0x241f94f7" referenced memory at "0x00fe0cc0". The memory could not be "read". Click ok to terminate"

I asked about this problem on another website but no one really answered me except for one guy saying he fixed it by not overclocking but i wasnt overclocking to begin with.

I ran memtest on both sticks of ram individualy and im still getting this error but not just in half life 2, but also once i was restarting windows and that message poped right up before it restarted.

And ive also noticed that these problems started to occure when i bought half life 2. But even with it uninstalled, it still causes these problems but now with everything.

Can someone please help?

In the BIOS, are you running your memory according to the speed indicated by the SPD or is the timing set to "Auto"?

Download memtest and make a bootable floppy. Run memtest for atleast 15 to 20 passes or until you see errors (which ever comes 1st). If you do not receive any errors, then your ram is ok. If you do receive errors, then remove 1 ram stick from your system and run memtest again for another 15 to 20 passes. If you receive errors, then that ram stick is bad. If you do not receive errors, then remove the 1st ram stick and replace it with the 2nd one repeat the test with the other ram stick. Replace the DIMM that gives errors.

If you mix and match different brands of ram, it can cause this problem, especially if they are rated for different timings. When running dual channel, you should have a matched pair of ram.
