I'm currently looking around for a college.
After High School I've been working for one year now at a big television network and I would like my major to be in the media field too (Film/Television Productions, Broadcasting, Communications, etc.).

It should be a pretty good and renowned college (I want to become the head of one of the big networks )
It should be situated either on the East Coast (lots of good colleges) or on the West Coast (California? I especially like the weather and the girls there )
Of course there should be more girls than boys and the girls should be the best looking of all colleges.
I did the SAT I twice (Verbal: 690/670 and Math: 630/670) and the SAT II once (Writing: 660, Literature: 620, US History: 640) but I will probably give the SAT II another try (Writing, World History, Math??).

Currently have looked at the UCLA and the USC and will probably apply to both.
I looked at Stanford and it looks really really beautiful but I don't know if I can get into it with my SAT scores (I'm out of state) and the only major they offer in the media field is communications ...

Oh and I went to a pretty exclusive private school and earned mostly B's (and I'm fluent in english and german and and I learned Latin and ancient greek in school).

AT for college advice, eh?

Dunno if $$$ is a factor, but it usually is. Both UCLA and USC are goods schools in general. Your best option is to visit the schools and ask industry people about the schools (reputation, profs, etc.). For me, (database systems programmer) I asked people in the field where I should apply for grad school....helps a ton.

As for the women, you can't beat UCLA and USC

Well I just read in here lots of stuff about people and their colleges and I thought I might ask.
And I won't be able to visit the campuses in California (I'm out of state) but what I heared about these schools sounded very good.
Hey and what you said about women in these colleges ...

Since you live out of state why would you want to pay $35K a year to attend a state school like UCLA? USC is a private school, but for the price and your SAT scores you can probably do better. Try NYU if you're interested in Broadcasting. Emory University in Atlanta has close ties to CNN, and you could probably get in there with your SAT scores.

Don't get me wrong. Definitely apply to UCLA and USC. Those aren't bad colleges if you want to work in the movie industry. Also apply to at least 4-5 other places. You don't make the choice to go to a college now; you make it in April. At that time, you want to have as many options available to you as possible.

Don't encourage him to go to a CNN-sponsored college and become a flaming democrat ...

hehehe. No doubt. But he's going into Media/Communications/Broadcasting. Unless he gets an internship at the National Review, and then ends up taking over for O'Reilly when he retires, he's gonna meet nothing but liberals no matter where he goes

Well I thought about applying NYU but:
1. My sister goes to school in NY. I finally want to get away from my family (and California is about as far as I can go).
2. The weather. I like it warm and nice. NY is really really cold in the winter!
3. ??

So anyone know of any other GOOD colleges that I might have a chance to get into?
If the school is really worth it, I don't mind spending ~35K for it. (But it should be worth it, I want to really learn something, maybe make some usefull connections and have fun)
I even thought about applying to the top colleges (I DID learn 7 years Latin and 3 years ancient greek even if my grades were on avarage only B's) but I just DON'T KNOW ....

Well, I'm currently working at a BIG network (I'm for the most part very conservative) and I know lots of TOP people (also conservative) that helped build the company from the ground so my future quite secure (I could make a really good career without college) but I WANT to go to college. And of course I want it to be a really really good one (I am an ambitious ass and I can't help it, I want to show off to my friends).
