Need Help Overclocking My Voodoo5 5500

I thought this feature was available from the tools options but I can't find it. I am using the Windows 2000 beta drivers. Someone please give me a hand here.

Looks like that utility doesn't work with Windows 2K. It says that 3dfx tools are not installed. They definitely are installed, so now what? Anybody got any ideals?

Well, I couldn't get it to work. That's ok, I found another overclocker by Gary Peterson I think is his name. I guess it works, although I can see any speed increase. What's the use?

You aren't seeing an increase in benchmarks?

I definitely saw some. How far are you overclocking?

I overclocked it to 183. I see no difference. So I just set it back to the default. It runs hot enough as it is.

So, how much difference did you see? What tool are you using to benchmark?

I bet you do

I get about a dozen fps extra going from 166 to 183 in Q3, 1024xSHQ

Well, if it's enabled by default I do. Will check and see. Plus, I didn't test with Quake. I just do flight and racing sims.

well, that's probably part of your answer right there.

Those games are more CPU dependant than anything. Overclocking a video card only helps when you are fillrate limited.

If you want to see if it makes a difference, try running at the highest resolution you can, until it gets choppy. Use these settings, overclock your card, and see if you get an improvement.

You've got to be sure you're maxing out the video card, or video card overclocking doesn't do anything.
