Need help picking a monitor

I currently own a 19 inch KDS Avitron. I own a Geforce4 TI4400 video card but plan on upgrading to an ATI Radeon 9700 All-in-Wonder cardon P4 2.53 with 1 gig of ram. In other words, my machine has the power, I just need a good monitor to see it. My current monitor doesn't look as bright as I would like and I noticed video can be a little choppy on it at time. I'm starting to play with video editing and I am a gamer so I need a monitor that can keep up. I was looking at LCDs but I'm not impress with the graphics on most of them. I think I'm going to stick with a crt monitor. I was looking at MITSUBISHI Diamond Pro 930SB but haven't decided yet. I want at least a 19 inch monitor and don't want to spend more than $500. Thanks in advance for the advice.

I have been told the NEC MultiSync FE991SB is one of the best gaming monitors on the market. It's what I'm leaning towards in my next purchase, but I haven't performed an exhaustive analysis yet.

All told, I really like my Optiquest V95 and wish they were still in production. I've not had a single complaint about this monitor, so I'm looking for a similar performace.

How about a 21" ViewSonic P220F? It's an Aperture Grille monitor which has brighter colors than a regular Shadow Mask and is around your price range. It's maximum resolution is 1600x1200 which isn't as high as the P225F which goes to 2048x1536 but you'll save $150 or so.

Well, it seems Tom has your answer: Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 2060u (22")just won the "user pick of the year"

It's only safe to assume the 19" is just as good, eh? Personally I agree with the majority, I think Diamondtron tubes are superiour to anything else in the consumer market.

For the $$$, I suggest the Samsung 900 NF...sweet 19" monitor.
