Need help picking a motherboard

I'm having trouble deciding between those two boards for my PhenomII X6 rig. I mean they pretty much have the same features as far as I can tell so I guess I'd like anyone with more experience than me with motherboards to help me pick. I have only had asus boards prior to this so I can't really rely on the "my last msi board was good" factor.

The biggest difference seems to be that the MSI board supports quadfire vs trifire for the Gigabyte. I do play on using crossfire as soon as prices drop a bit and probably christmas at the latest but I don't think I will be using 3 or 4 cards in a setup like that anytime soon.

Other than that I think the gigabyte board has more power phases but MSI claims their phases are better or something. I do plan on overclocking but I don't think this is going to be a big factor right?

I've spent a lot of time looking and I decided on this ASUS.

Doesn't have all those slots, but it's got enough to do full bandwidth on crossfire of 2 cards. It's got onboard video which is great for troubleshooting that you may need to do in the future at some point. I wish my present computer had that. And you don't have to spend $180-200 to get the fancy north and south bridges with ASUS like you would MSI and Giga last time I checked.

Ah, but yeah I also saw that none of the ASUS boards have coax. I already have a tuner card, so that wasn't an issue. But I remember that it could have been if I didn't have a card.

I ended up getting the MSI 890FXA-GD70 for 170 CAD AR. Once I get my system setup i'll post my impressions on the board.

The Gigabyte board includes the Dolby Digital Home Cinema software while the MSI board does not.

The MSI board also has some good components as well, though.

Tech Report did a AMD 890FX roundup not too long ago and they reviewed both of these boards.

I would have chosen the Gigabyte board but I'm sure the MSI is just as good.

I went with the 890FXA-GD70 and I do not regret it. Nice layout, easy overclock of 1055T to 3.5ghz (will go higher this wekend). USB3 & SATA3, quad-crossfire (quad-fire?) and SLI support. Talk about future proof!

Tried 3x Crossfire, but switched to SLI with my two BFG GTX 275 OC, and I have room for a dedicated PhysX board as well.

Yes, this (and almost any multi-PCIe) mobo will do SLI if you apply the XDev patch.
