[*]try a different fan header
[*]try connecting it to a 4 pin molex connector

Same problem after unmount & disconnect the fan. All connection check, and all devices reseated.

I don't have another stick of ddr ram lying around to see if it is the ram fault.

I don't recall asking you to unmount and reseat devices.....

[*]Try suggestions above
[*]Try a new fan

Memory has no effect on a fans ability to function.

I had a soyo board with fan rpm monitoring.
The board shuts down after a seconds when the cpu fan is
not properly connected. It had also the problem that slow rotating
fans arent properly identified and the board shuts down even
with connected fan.

You could consult your manual to see if this feature is implemented.
Solution was to disable the monitoring in the bios after I was able
to boot with a faster fan installed.

I have try different fan header & have try disconnected all fans. And, also have try mouting the old fan back in place.

But, the power keep cutting out.

Power supply is a Sparkle SPI.

That's a very good point to consider. I have only seen some motherboards display a message about a fan problem, or they could also beep at you.

I can't boot at all. I have power for a bout 1.5 second then the power unit shut off.

The system failed I have a feeling that it is the motherboard problem or power supply problem.

Was the fan swap the ONLY thing you did differently to the system? Maybe you pulled the heatsink away from the cpu in the process. Also try resetting cmos.

I'll unplug all power off the mobo to see if the power supply could power up the hdd, floppy drive, cdrom & fan.

Just check the system & will remount everything then return the one day old computer to manfacture.

No but I also install a new heatsync with temperature temperature monitor probe between cpu & copper heatsync.

The system boot up & worked with the new heat sync & fan with out the thermometer that I for got to mount.

After unmount the heatsync & apply the thermometer between the heat sync & cpu the system failed.

Are you running an Athlon?
AMDs have now a functioning heat protection on board,
which turns off the power when overheating.
Maybe this is what happens?
Try to remove the thermometer again?

well, putting something between CPU and heatsink that is not
solid copper sounds like a bad idea to me but I dont know your setup.

Thanks everyone.

I remount the old heatsync & fan. Reset the CMOS and it booted. I then disable the fan monitoring in BIOS and that did it.

But unfortunately the auto heats sensor that supposedly increases the fan speed as the temperature rises didn't work in auto mode. It works in manual mode, but that what I wanted.

I'll have to return the fan & chart it up as a 3 hours learning experience that not every thing works as advertises.
