need help replacing 60mm cpu fan with 92mm

i have the dynatron DY1206BH-610 link with the 60x60x10 fan option. it's mounted on an xp1600, matx asus nforce, in a fong kai fk-611l link.

the fan noise is unbearable. it's rated at 24.4 cfm af 40 dba. i have some 92 mm fans (~37.5 cfm at 25 db, ~47.2 cfm at 27 db) that i planned to mount like the zalman does with their kits. would that be possible with the sink i have now? or, would i have to make some type of 92 mm to 60 mm funnel?

That is just too much trouble to go to IMHO. Get the GC68 from SVC and use the stock 80mm fan or an 80mm panaflo and be done with it.

I would say get an adapter or make your own funnel, that way the air is directed over your heatsink. If you are lazy, just get the scv gc68 like what amdskip recommended.

$5 for the SVC GC68. makes me wish i hadn't spent $15 for the dynatron. thanks.

A 92mm fan is too big for a heatsink because there is too large of a dead spot in the middle of the fan.

Youd think so.. but Ive got a 120mm running on my AX7 - and my temps never exceed 50c on a 1.4TBird running at 1.85v 1700+ mhz.
