Need Help Stolen Corvette!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
VetteTube - Posting For Ron Smith 1970 Vette

Ron Smith is a veteran that had his Dream car stolen on July 20th. He expressly joined and posted about it on the Corvette Action Center forum for help. He didn't know how to string the photos to video and make this so they did it for him and we're trying to spread it around, hoping that it will do some good. They're trying to get the You Tube link working soon.

Thank you for your time. I'm just trying to be a boy scout and pay something forward.

Stolen from Brisbane CA, July 20th 2008.
1970 Candy Apple Red Convertible.
License # CALIF70
VIN# 194670S401895

If you have any information, call San Mateo County Sheriff's Office,

Nice Vette; it's probably in a chop shop by now.

Since they didnt say it in ANY text:

The car was stolen from Brisbane, California.

Knowing what I know about California and cars, this thing is gone.
It was either chopped up immediately, or is in some secret warehouse where no one is going to see it.

QFT too much filler. Plus being a video is going to limit this from about 50% or more than would be looking at it from their office.

Instead of emotional details like his daughter that won't get this car...they should be posting details, locations and the like.

Definitely sucks, but its hard for me to understand how someone's heart could be broken by having a car stolen. Get your insurance check and move on.

Problem is insurance will screw people with classic cars. They will under value them, compare them to cars that have not been restored and/or are number matching, will require a full appraisal and base rates off of it but not pay full price, etc?

I had a 75 factory V8/4speed Monza that was rear ended. When I took it to the insurance adjuster to get looked at the body guy looked at the car then the adjuster and asked what he wanted him to do as there was no way he could write up a estimate for it. Luckily the adjuster was ok with me fixing it and wrote it up based on what I told them prices were. I got lucky as he also fixed up classic cars and kinda helped me put. Still put me in a bind but was a better option then what happens to most.

But for some a car like this might be somethign from their childhood. So it has a lot of emotin tied to it.

Well the money thing I can understand, and I'd certainly be angry if anything was stolen from me, but I cant think of anything that would break my heart to lose.

Thats what you get for not buying a new one. They could have used OnStar to find it!

Losing blood pressure would break your heart.

Yup. If you have a classic, you really ought to get a "Stated Value" policy right up front.

Most people I talk to recommend Hagerty.
