Hi,

I will be buying a PSU soon and I need your help!

I know it is wrong to budget you PSU but I got no choice

While doing some research on budget PSU, I found these three:

1st candidate:

<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.mwave.com/mwave/skusearch.hmx?SCriteria=ba21491">
EPOWER ep-450xp-c1b 450w cheetah series ATX 12v ul & fcc</a>

http://www.mwave.com/mwave/sku....hmx?SCriteria=ba21491

2nd:

Thermaltake TR2 W0070RUC ATX 430W

3rd:

COOLER MASTER eXtreme Power Plus RS-460-PMSR-A3

http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16817171028

Unfortunately, these three are the only options I could have (due to budget reasons).

What PSU would you choose? What do you think is a better choice?

My specs are:

E2180 2.0Ghz (stock HSF)
GA-P35-DS3L
Palit D 7300LE
(1) 80gb Maxtor IDE hdd
(1) 80gb Western Digital SATA hdd
built-in sound
(1) Lite-on 20x DVDRW SATA
no case fans atm

ATM, not planning to OC .. but If ill OC, my target is only 2.5Ghz

Thank you in advance

I'd go for the Cooler Master out of those three, but you may want to see if the Antec Earthwatts 380W is still $20 shipped after rebate.

Yes, I think ill go for the Antec 380W .. Do you think I can do minor OC? I'm planning to push it to .. hmmm ... from 2.0 to 2.6 maybe .. would that be fine?

Hey guys

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I recently bought a whole lot of PC kit (part of which was a Cooler Master Elite 330 chassis, with included eXtreme Power Plus 460W PSU info), to build myself up a new gaming rig.

The spec for my rig is:

Core 2 Duo E8200
2x 1GB Kingston HyperX DDR2-1066 RAM
8800GT 512MB graphics card
2x 320 GB Seagate SATAII HDD's
1x DVD-RW drive
2x 120mm case fans

The thing I want to know is whether the PSU that came with my chassis is okay or not, to run the hardware listed above? I know nVIDIA say your PSU has to be outputting at least 22A on the +12V, but my PSU, which has dual +12V rails, is rated at 18A per rail.

TIA

Not really sure why you didn't start your own thread since your issue is irrelevant to the OP.

If you look underneath those two "18A" on the PSU sticker, you'll see that there's a "312W" directly underneath. THAT is your PSU's +12V capability. W = V x A, so if we take the 312W and divide by 12V, we get 26A. So you have just enough to get you going.

Sorry about that mate... have been on forums before, where if there was an older thread somehow remotely relating to what you're talking about, the mods preferred if you 're-used' that thread.

Cool, so I should be okay, based on what I have connected up to said PSU.

Of course, were I to ever go SLI/Xfire, that would mean a new PSU then.
