Need help w/Abit KT7, and VIA 4in1 drivers

I just assembled my Abit KT7, with a 600mhz Duron. The problem I am having, is when I try to load the VIA 4in1 drivers, I get the message "Registry error!Please reboot computer". I downloaded the latest 4in1 from VIA, and still the same message. I am using 128meg PC133, Leadtek GeForce SDRAM, Diamond Monster MX300. Enermax 350wattPS, Adaptec 2940UW, Seagate 9.1 gig 10,000rpm UW Cheetah, Plextor 32x cdrom, and Win98SE. Any suggestions?

Try removing the sound card and then try and install them. If I remember correctly, that sound card doesnt work on the KT133 correctly.

I have setup 6 KT7 non RAIDs, and many other VIA chipset boards. I only install the VIA AGP driver in Turbo mode with 98SE or 2000. All I can say is that doing it that way has given me the most stable systems I have built. I have suggested it to others, and all were happy with the results. Give it a try, and you should see what I mean.

EDIT: When I set systems up, I start out with no cards installed except for the video card. I install Windows, then use this order:

1. Install DirectX 7A (Reboot)
2 Install VIA AGP Driver in Turbo Mode (Reboot)
3. Install video card drivers (Reboot)
4. Install DirectX 7A Again (Reboot)
5. Install sound card, then sound card drivers (Reboot)
6. Install modem, then install modem drivers (Reboot)

This method had not failed to give me rock solid systems out of many builds.
If you are wondering "Why install DX7A twice?" It is something that I picked up from the EPOX KX133 configuration guide that was put out awhile back by many people working together to help with setup problems with that VIA chipset board. It seemed to have a good effect for them, so I do it. Couldn't hurt

Thanks Technonut- I couldn`t get past that "registry error" message, so I thought "What the hell, let`s try win ME, and ...voila- all is well. Very happy now.
