Need help with an old ata100

I pulled an old 40gb fujitsu out of a hp nc6000 and it only has the ata pins no molex or power plug.
I want to put it in my pc but not sure if a ide cable will run it.

Why would you want that old thing in a PC?

I suppose you could wire up your own, since that looks like a custom job specially made for them, no idea if they used a modified PATA cable or what they did.
Best case is, it is a normal PATA cable + power.
Worst case is, a custom PATA cable + power.

figured it out!
it is a ultra ata and wont work with ide cables

i want it for testing linux distros

Um... no.
Ultra ATA still uses PATA cables, it just has 80 wire conductors and 40 pins.

My bet is this:

The signals assigned for 44-pin applications are described in table 16. Although there are 50 pins in the plug, the mating receptacle need contain only 44 pins (the removal of pins E and F provides room for the wall of the receptacle).

The first four pins of the connector plug located on the device are not to be connected to the host, as they are reserved for manufacturer's use. Pins E, F and 20 are keys, and are removed.

this drive is turning out to be more trouble then its worth. I will just hold onto it until i can salvage a pata cable.

That's "Laptop IDE". 44-pins. Can't say that I've ever seen a desktop cable adapter, but I have seen *external enclosures* for those, in fact, I may in fact still have one.
