Need help with an outdoor grill

Will last you the summer and maybe next summer if you are lucky.
As mentioned, any big box store will carry something in that range that will last a season or two tops.

...and weber's really are nice...

Just get a cheap cover for your cheap grill and you'll get two summers out of it.

I know you said no Weber, but hear me out. Rather than get the cheapest possible gas grill that will last a couple of seasons at most, just spend a few bucks more and go charcoal with a $99 weber silver. After local taxes and the gas cylinder you have to buy, you have easily exceeded the cost of the weber, and the weber will last damn near forever. If you wish to upgrade after that, you can probably get at least $50 bucks back for it on craigslist. Most of all, you will be grilling like a real man, so we wont have to call you a pussy.

i help my neighbor put one together, its really flimsy, out of the box, the grill was bent... its fairly cheap.. it should be good for 3-4 years if properly cleaned and kept.

i think my weber has 20 or 25 year warranty and I actually used it to replace rusting parts.. no questions asked. weber is solid

The warranty is actually "part specific," varying from 2-25 years (for gas grills) but they ARE very good about taking care of customers.

i had plastic pieces on my weber charcoal is is specifically NOT cover but replaced for free anyway, i told the customer rep, i dont need it, she insist on sending it. Thats how awesome weber is..

Well I tried grilling charcoal on one of those cheap grills, and it failed miserably..

Several times actually, and I dont think it was the grill.

I just want something easy, like go turn it on, then wait a few minutes then start cooking. Also I was going to look into a way to put some charcoal on top of the flame, so you get the ease of gas, and the taste of charcoal.

I think if you put charcoal in a gas grill, it'll burn out and you're left with a bunch of ashes.. you probably want those lava rocks or ceramic briquettes

If you want "push button and cook," just buy a good quality gas grill.

Yes, purists say that only charcoal/wood gives you that "real BBQ flavor," and there's some truth to that, but your gas grill will impart plenty of flavor. (and it only gets better as the grill gets used) PLUS, if you really have to have that "genuine wood smoke" flavor, get a "chip box" for your gas grille. They're not perfect, but they work pretty damned well.

Thanks for posting. I might pick one up for my balcony. The one I have now is all rusted and too heavy. I feel like its too much weight for my balcony to handle. This is a great price point for this grill.

I have a weber jumbo joe and it's freaking awesome. Just be sure to pick up a weber chimney starter as well and you'll never have to waste money on charcoal lighter fluid. Memorial day is coming around and walmart should be having the 2 bag of kingsford charcoil for $5.88 sale soon. I'm going to load up on at least 15 bags.

Either way, once you learn how to control the temperature through the opening/closing of the damper, you'll make some amazing food.

I've seen that model CharBroil in person and it's not a good setup for once a week. The grease trap is terrible and will cause you headaches during cleaning.

Cheap grills are throwaways, they rust, fall apart, burners break - gas valves suck, uneven heating/cooking. You will go through one every 2yrs until you buy a Weber.

For under $300, Kenmore is not bad but it aint no Weber.

I ended up getting one at Fry's based on your post (thanks)!

Had a spare thermometer so I installed it over the cover. It'll serve nicely for indirect cooking. I'm going to see if there's a cast iron grate or a nice stainless steel one that will fit directly on it.

Took me almost 3 hours to put this grill together. The instructions were terrible. The one thing you have to make sure of is that the top arch is on the correct side, otherwise when you put the metal bowl onto the arms, the holes won't fit! I nearly had to backtrack on three different occasions. In the end, for $70, this will last me a while.

Don't line the innards with aluminum foil. The grease won't flow to the drip cup properly. It will just sit on the aluminum and fry as the burner gets hot and eventually catch on fire when enough of it accumulates. I had a huge fireball last night. Turning off the fire and closing the lid did little to help since it has permanent vents. Wish it had a damper.

I don't expect this to last, but eventually I'll get a Weber grill. For more serious cooks, I use my Weber Jumbo Joe.
