In the past few days I have been getting a blue screen when I start Windows, it comes up right before the Windows Login screen, the message it gives me is: "The 32bit device drvier CDRPWD(01)+0000AD23 has attempted to use a system service which is not loaded. It may be possible to continue normally"

I press enter, and this blue screen comes up two more times then I can finally get to the Windows login screen. This doesn't seem to be causing any problems. All my devices are working, and i'm not noticing any problems, but I would still like to get rid of it.

I have tried the Windows ME rollback feature, and rolled back about a week and the problem still continues.. could it be a hardware issue? I also searched around for `CDRPWD`, I didn't find much other then references to a `CDRPWD.VXD` file. I found out that it is installed by burning software, so I re-install my burner, and I un-installed Nero and installed Adaptec Easy CD Creator 5.. that didn't work. I have also searched in the win.ini and system.ini for a reference to CDRPWD but I had no success. Can anyone help me troubleshoot this problem? Or maybe does anyone know of a website that you can search for certian blue screen error messages on and it tells you more about them?

Here are a few things that might need to be known:

Win ME
Abit KT-7 Raid
HP 9100i Burner
Adaptec Easy CD Creator 5

Everything worked fine, and there were no hardware changes/modifications at the time this problem started occuring.

Thanks in advange,

Jayme

Have you reloaded Windows yet. Sometimes fixes my problems and it only takes 20-30 min.

Have u tried rooting about in TweakUI?
If u have this installed then u can select which "Static VXD's" to not load on boot. Might be a good way to rid those BS's till yu fix the cause of the prob.
Also has a nice "Diagnostic Boot" feature which may help u trouble shoot your problem.
If you havent got it, just try a Search for TweakUI in this forum and u should find a link for where to download it from.

Might be worth u trying Start|Programs|Accessories|System Tools|System Information. Theres a few tools located here that may be worth a look at also.

Fraid i dont use WinMe so cant really help more, but sure someone with more experience of Me will be able to help you further if your still unable to sort it out.

Good luck,

rockhard =)

I had the same problem and had to reinstall Windows Me to get pass the BSoD. I fixed the problem by:

1. Uninstalling both Nero and Easy CD Creator
2. Installed Easy CD Creator 5 (retail), I was not using Nero....

I think the first Easy CD 5 I was using was a beta and going to the retail fixed my problem.

Good luck

I thought about re-installing, but I usually use that as a last resort.

I do have TweakUI for 98/ME installed, but I searched through it for what you mentioned about the VXD's and the diagnotic boot and found nothing like this. System information didn't give me any useful information.

I will try un-installing CD Creator 5 and just putting Nero on and see what happens.

Thanks for all your help so far, hope this works out..

Dr Smooth: Hey, it worked!. I guess before I had Nero and CD Creator 5 on, I un-installed Creator 5 and left Nero and it didn't fix the problem, this time I uninstalled Creator 5 and re-install nero.. no blue screen.. thanks a lot man!

Thank you all for your effort =)

Great!
I am glad it worked.

Let me know how you like Nero. I got it because Easy was truncating my file names (and it still does it). But I never got Nero to work, mostly from the lack of patience.

Well, I have alwayed used Nero up until a few days ago. I heard that Easy CD Creator had features for people who own MP3 CD Players.. I have an Aiwa CDC-MP3 player in my car and wanted to use the easy cd creator features to burn CD's for that. There wasn't really anything special about it, I'm sticking with Nero from now on, it is a lot smaller and less full of junk... does what I need it to do.

I had the same trouble... I uninstalled ECDC 5, then reinstalled w/o Direct CD and have not had the problem since.
