need help with ftp in SMC router

hi everyone,
I need help with ftp on SMC router 7400BR.

i open port 21 for ftp but i can not ftp in from work. friend of my can login to my pc via ftp but I can not. as far as i read about SMC router, there is a P@ssive command mode that was implement into the router for security reason. is there anyway that I can over come this ? please help

You might have to forward port 20 also as the service port. Just make sure that you are routing the ports to the computer that has the FTP server on it. Hope this helps.

Yes, under virtual server. Same place where you opened port 21.

ok, i did open the port 22 in virtual server but i still can not get into my ftp server. it say 425 timeout something.
I run ftp server from freebsd. do i need to reboot my server or do i need to change anything ?

You can just dmz the computer with the ftp server and you need to to set the ftp server to do passive If you don't want to do dmz you have to use something like flashfxp to get into the ftp server and tell it the ftp server using nat.

You opened port 22 or port 20?

I did go into virtual server and open port 20 but still no go.
