need HELP with getting back online

Hi Guys
heres my (new) problem, I get a call from my daughter today at about 3:00 in the afternoon, she's home for summer, anyway she's asks me if she can burn a CD on my computer and I say OK,

Well, when I came home I find out that shes couldnt remember how to do it so I say no-problem honey, Dads home and he will burn it for you....well, she killed Windows . So since I just reloaded EVERTHING just the last coupl of weeks I go ...CRAP!!!!

I could not get into Windows at all nor could I use "System restore" in safemode. So I reload Windows over the existing Windows and everything restored OK. But here is my main problem. I can not use my DSL line at all, wuz-up wit dat ???

I have a Pacbell DSL unit which works fine as I am using it right now with my laptop so my problem lies in my Gaming Machine (gasp)
I set up my DSL protocols all of the time so I know how to do it, and I have tripled checked all of my settings and I can not get Windows to use my DSL, what can I do ?????

I know that if I format the HDD and redo everything that it will be fine BUT I really am trying hard not to do that just yet

Any advice from the techno's here

I just want to make it clear here that my DSL modem works fine as I am using it with my laptop to put this message here !!

Well, i really cant provide an exact or even close solution to your problem since i dont have dsl.. lol. But anyways.. have tried just going trough your internet option settings in the connection tabs of internet options? and just go through the menu... 1..2..3? And just a tip incase u are going to have to format...PUT WIN XP ON , i can assure you that is a kuzillion times better then ME..........

Oh, and another tip...... never use system restore... lol... its prolly just me but i allways have bad luck with it and allways have to end up formatting my puter because of it (for the most part)
