NEED HELP with I.E

Application popup: IEXPLORE.EXE - Application Error : The instruction at "0x004091fb" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read".

Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program

I get this error everytime I reset my comp now. I tried reinstalling internet explorer, running adware, and CURSING AT IT. Nothing seems to work, anyone have any experience with this?

What version of IE are your using?

Try running a memory test

Memory is fine

In the WINNT \ system32 directory,
right-click OLEAUT32.DLL \ Properties
and check what version it is.

It should be 2.4.4518.0

I have version 2.40.4522.0

You may want to UPDATE to SP3.

It resolves a lot of issues with IE6.

The error can be caused by numerous reasons (typically an app overwrites the DLL)

I am currently on SP4

When you reinstalled IE, did you first REMOVE
IE or just installed right over the current version.

If you installed over the current version, you might
want to try to do a REPAIR of IE.

Also, did this problem appear after you installed SP4?

Problem occured after I can home, but kazaalite was on. I did a repair and uninstall.
