I have a SCSI controller card in my pci slot...basicly i want to use my Atlas drive for my OS and my IDE drive for storage. By the way, i dont know much about SCSI. Can someone help me configure it? The jumpers are set at TERM POW and SCSI ID 6 i think. But when i load the driver for the SCSI card went i boot to the Windows XP cd, it loads the host card driver but it doesnt see the SCSI drive. Help! What am i doing wrong?

Hardware:
DFI Lanparty UT NF250gb
AMD 64 2800+
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro AGP
768 Kingston Value Select Memory
Maxtor Atlas 10k IV SCSI drive
Intio ini-9100uw SCSI host card (PCI)

Yes, the hardrive jumper is set to terminated power. It goes straight into the host card, this drive is the only SCSI on the chain.
THank!

When you ctrl-A, do you see your HD in the scsi card utility? If yeah, does it load the scsi bios at startup, if yeah, you should see the HD without any drivers loaded, ie from a dos doot disk, or if you are booting off the install cd... At least thats how I remember it.... been a while since I dealt with scsi hardware on a pc....

It appears from the model name of the card that it's an old UltraWide card, I don't have time to go on a wild Google chase this morning though. Get a used Adaptec 19160 or LSI Logic U160 and you'll be able to install Windows XP without even needing drivers on a floppy.

Your SCSI cable should be like this, with card and terminator on opposite ends of the cable and the drive next to the terminator:

SCSI Card ====empty plug===....==empty plug=====Atlas 10K IV=Terminator

and it should be an Ultra160/Ultra320 LVD cable with an LVD terminator, not just any random 68-pin ribbon cable you happened across.

Sorry I wasn't clear... the scsi utility is accessible right after the post message before your OS boots... the message pops up, press ctrl-a to access scsi bios or something like that... once in the OS you have to install a seperate utility which can then querry the scsi card for status and stuff like that.
