This is a formula I came up with some years ago to determine a radius or (r) using a gage pin (D).
Basically, find the largest one that will fit in between the corner and the larger radius and perform that highlighted calculation, and you have measured your radius.
What I want to do now is find out how I could calculate the largest gage pin (D) that would fit if the radius (r) is known.
I tried to jog my memory as to how I came up with this, and I basically pretended that my gage pin diameter(D) was the side of a square, and calculated the diagonal, etc etc to determine 'r', but doing this in reverse isn't quite that easy or I'm just too tired right now.
To clarify, I have a formula to determine 'r' when 'D' is known. What I need is a formula to determine 'D' when 'r' is known.
Thanks in advance
