Need help with tekram 390u2w

hi i got a problem with my scsi card and deviceces. i was wondering if anyone knew whether or not you can use all three internal connectors on the tekram 390u2w. Here's how i had it set up. 50 pin = plextor cdr 8/20 terminated on id 2. 68 pin plextor 40wide terminated on id3. 69 pin u2w = ibm 18es 9.1 gig hd w/ sca adapter on id 0 with an active terminator at the end of the cable. when i have it like this the card WILL NOT detect any of the devices. i took of the hd then both cdroms worked. then i plugged it back up in the original order and it stopped working again. so then i moved the cdrom to the u2w conntector and everything works. This setup is ok but i want to maximize the bandwith. I checked tekram's webpage and it doesn't say anything about not being able to use all three internal connectors, so im at a loss. i have the newest bios 3.21 and the latest drivers for windows9x. also about not being detected when the scsi card is scanning for the devices with all three devices on their own channel is where none of them show up and also in windows. anyone have a better solution?

have you tried just connecting two of the three devices? How about the u2w for the hd and the uw or the narrow for just one of the cds? Try each one separately. I suspect that might work. If so, just get both cds on one of the chains. If you have a wide connector on one, you might need to get a special cable that has wide and narrow connectors and then have the wide one at the end with termination. At least, I think that's how it works. You can also go to adaptecs site. They have all sorts of directions for how to mix wide and narrow devices on one csci chain.

I have that same card, and you should be able to use all three internal connectors. I will post back shortly and tell you for sure.

I have practically the same setup, except a different hard drive. My system is fine with all 3 connectors in use. The card can only access 2 channels at a time, but I don't think it matters if all 3 are used. With the hard drive you have, you don't need the LVD speed. Just plug the ultra wide Plextor on the same connector as the hard drive. You won't lose any performance.

I don't have the needed cables to test. But for one, the Plextor 40Xmax wide doesn't perform as well as the 50-pin version does. Second for both that CDROM and that harddrive, you won't exceed 40MB/s.

thanx for the info guys. i do have it working right now with the hd and the cdrom on the u2w channel. i do have a u2w cable for the hd the stranded amphenol (sp?) cable. i only have problems when i have everything on their own connector. i know that the hd can't maximize the bandwith but i like everything set in the optimal setting (like any hardware freak )
