Need Input on LCD Monitor

im looking to replace my big crt monitor - viewsonic p225 with an lcd. i currently run an ati x1800xt video card, but plan on upgrading to an 8800gtx eventually. i normally play games at 1600x1200 and desktop apps at 1024x768. id like to get as big a screen as possible, since my current crt is very large. unfortunatly, i can only spend around $300-$350. i need some input on what would be my best choices. thanks

The LG L226WT (22" widescreen) is great for that price range. I can't think of any better LCD for the price.

concerning widescreen monitors...

how does this effect games? is there that typical black bars at top and bottom, or will it fill the entire screen? are all games compatible?

It differs game to game, but if the game only supports 4:3 resolutions there will be black bars on the sides, otherwise it can run in a 16:9 or 16:10 resolution and have bars at the top/bottom or fill the screen.

Also, if you can go a little higher, you can get a 24" BenQ fp241w from benqshopper.com
