Please help, i need more voltage for my celemine from Abit SE6
i have update to the latest bios for SE6. but the max voltage seems cannot get higher than 1.75.

i heard that if you put a P3 and try to flash a new bios update, you will get the max voltage at 1.9 and you reaplce the P3 with celeron
the 1.9 volt will stay there and now you can get more voltage.

is that the way to do that??
if i don't have a P3 cpu how can i get more voltage from my Abit SE6??

I've heard of similar operations, but they've actually envolved the older BH6. I actually inadvertently performed it too (on my BH6), when doing a BIOS upgrade. From what I gather, it's sometimes possible to confuse the BIOS into changing the voltage limits when flashing. In my case it was that I had the voltage set higher than default when I performed the flash. I was using a Celemine, same as you (can't remember what the voltage was at). Afterwards I had another 0.05 volts of headroom. Not much, but it might be the difference between flaky and stable.

Hope this helps, and good luck!

I only know how to tweak the voltage on Slot CPUs or using Slotkets... If it's not in the BIOS then it's going to require soldering probably.

I also didn't find anything in the SE6 FAQ ...

Quick question and yes this is probably really simple but I cant seem to get it. I am trying to update my bios on my se6. I tried using the "Awdflash" with the command c:\awdflash se6_vk.bin /cc/cd/cp/py/sn/cks/r . I do have the correct .bin bios file on my c:\ but it dosent work.

After I do that in true dos mode it just hangs the Awdflash program from Abit. There has to be a better way becuase this is a huge pain.

One more thing, anyone have trouble installing Windows 2000 Pro using an SE6.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Dallas

About Abit BIOS in general to address your hang in DOS problem...

The Abit BIOS files are usually LHA-self extracting excutables.
I've had the same hang whenever I execute it and let it extract in Windows.
I usually keep the award flash program and the executable on a folder in my C: drive.
Then I boot to "safe mode command prompt only" from the menu that you from pressing F8 just as windows starts.
I go to that folder, execute the LHA-self extracting exe, then I try to flash the BIOS.

As for the trick...

I've had varied success with it on my BH6, I don't recall using so many switches, or any at all, I simply set the voltage to max, and flashed, and it kept the same range as before, but the voltage I was running at while I flashed the BIOS became the default range. (for example, default voltage is 2.0, I can go as low as 1.5 and as high as 2.3, if I set it to 2.3 and flash it, it lets me go as low as 1.8, and as high as 2.6!)

Vinny! Thank you so much. I did exactly what you told me and it worked. A-Bits instructions were completely screwed.

Thanks again!
