Got an 8 year old Mustang that is on its last legs. Radiator was boiling over today, and my car seat just broke.

What is a good place to go online to shop for new/used cars?

Carmax
I know most of the Houston area dealerships have some sort of website also. Grab a Chronicle and get some dealership names

Some of the cars can be insane, but others are excelent deals. My GF bought a 2001 PT Cruiser with 7k miles and a very nice Alpine/Infinity Stereo system in it for $11k.

I heard about that first a couple of weeks ago but I find the site a bit confusing and more to the point heavily lacking in actual selection. It has NO 97-2000 maximas, whereas autotrader has 16 of those within 50 miles of me.

Price range? Type? Brand preference? Local paper, cars.com, dealerships, etc. There's no real "best" place. Then again it depends on the type of car - how many incentives you can get, how new it is, etc.

I'm looking at getting a Ford Escape or Escape like vehicle. Maybe a Hyundai Tucson... perhaps a Santa Fe. A Sorento would be nice - something smaller than an Explorer.

It's near the end of the month. Call up a few dealers and have them fax to you a guaranteed written price quote on the vehicle you want, play them off each other. Or if you're good at haggling, go haggle with the sales guy. Should be able to get a few thousand off MSRP or maybe invoice.

You can get a replacement seat off Ebay or www.corral.net classifieds cheap....
And the overheating could be nothing more than an inexpensive water pump.

Have you tried even diagnosing it? Even if you do decide to get rid of the car, you'll get a lot more money for it with those problems fixed.
