just curious, but why the 135is over the 135i? isnt the 135is simply a 135i with performance power kit slapped on, or a tune? it would have saved a bit of money. Finding a used 1m for a bit more is possible if you look hard enough too.

regardless, congrats on the purchase. I love the size of the 1-series

Looks like its kind of an m-sport model, didn't even know they made it or that they stuck the 7spd dct in there.

I like them though! Not the prettiest car but really nice package otherwise, if anything were to happen to my car this is very high on the list to replace it.

The exhaust note alone is worth the price of admission on the s model, but the 135is feels quite different from a standard 135i. I have no interest in a 1M, i don't need such a hardcore daily driver and i'm not dealing with a manual transmission in manhattan.

Ah, too bad you didn't go with carbon black, it's an "is" only color. Good luck with the wheels in NYC though, the N55 does sound much different when you open it up with the performance exhaust that comes on the 135is.

You can order Carbon Black on any 135i as long as you throw on the sport package option. I know what you mean about the wheels, the GTI has had the tire on each corner replaced at least twice in two years, no actual wheel damage though.

Did not consider the Cayman, as i already have a SLK and i need backseats for my daughter's carseat.

Oh you're right, I had forgotten they had added for ZMP as well, just like Le Mans. Still a pretty rare color though, sort of like sparkling graphite metallic. Hopefully your daughter isn't in a rear facing seat, that'll be a squeeze to get it in there.

It's rear facing, but she should be fine, her mother is really short lol.

That's the car I want. What sold you on the 135i? The power?

I just find it to be a very complete package, it has all the luxury features etc you could want and it has a nice engine and good handling. I really like the size, i debated a TTS, but that ended up feeling pretty cramped, and i want to stay far far far away from VW after my GTI experience.

There's really no other options. Mmm... auto dimming mirrors, how i missed you!

Good luck, I don't even attempt to put my Keyfit 30 in mine, she's about ready to move into the Recaro, so I may try that one in the back. If they just would have made a middle seat back there like the E81 has, it would fit perfectly instead of having that plastic tray.

We have a Keyfit 30... This should be interesting haha. Might have to buy a new carseat.

The problem with the infant carriers are they are just so deep, front facing isn't an issue but with a rear facing it just needs to be more upright then long.

Ugh carseats, I hate these things. I have a 5 month old (rear-facing) and a 3 yr old boy (front facing) who are at the top of the charts in height. I just picked up a Hyundai Genesis so the boys will have more legroom in the back while in their carseats and I can keep my knees out of my chest while driving.

back on topic, congrats on the 1 series, I actually like those cars a lot, it seems they get a bad rep for some reason. We need pics!

This is why i'm only having one kid, that way only my wife is uncomfortable.

I believe the only reasons people badmouth the 1 series is that they think it looks a little weird and that they think it's overpriced. I agree that it definitely looks funky, but i have no issues with the price.

It's basically a 3 series in a condensed package, which is a good thing in my book, as i want everything the 3 series has, just smaller. I literally could not find anything that was missing from the 3 on the 1, it even has the headlight washers and power folding mirrors, which i found amusing lol.

I'll post pics as soon as i get it, should be tomorrow or saturday.

I loved my GTI and my Jetta TDI, I'd get another without hesitation. Your dealer sucks/you got a lemon. Shit happens.

So did my wife, my best friend, my wife's half sister, the Financial Analyst where I work, pretty much anyone I've ever met who owns/has owned a Jetta.

That shit ain't gonna happen to me.

Nice pics, can you post some interior pics as well?

Here are the pics: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/gu8529q5kt2brh5/L8AwGTm1_d

Car is great so far, i've been using my standard new car break-in method: Drive it like you stole it. The car in sport mode is a completely different animal, and that exhaust noise is just great. Got pulled over by NYPD earlier, they wanted to make sure it wasn't stolen since it had temp plates... think the cops were bored lol.

The voice recognition actually WORKS, entered multiple addresses by voice command and it processed them all correctly.
